Privacy Policy

This policy explains what happens to information when you visit QuestFern. The short version: the site has no accounts, no forms and no database of visitors. What exists is what your browser keeps locally and what the third-party services listed below receive when their content loads.

What the site stores in your browser

These items are kept in your browser's local storage. They are never sent to QuestFern and can be cleared from your browser settings, or with the reset buttons on the pages themselves.

• Shrine checklist and map progress — which shrines you have ticked off.
• Display preferences — light or dark theme, and whether you dismissed a banner.
• Your cookie-consent choice, so that the banner does not ask again.

Advertising

QuestFern is funded by advertising served by Google AdSense. Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your earlier visits to this and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on those visits.

You can opt out of personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings, and out of many other vendors' personalised ads at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu. How Google uses information from sites that use its services is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Advertising scripts load only after you accept the cookie banner. If you decline, they never load and no advertising cookies are set. To change your answer later, clear this site's data in your browser and the banner will ask again.

Analytics

Page views are counted with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify individual visitors. Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity load on every page and set cookies. Google Analytics records anonymised usage data such as pages viewed and approximate region. Clarity records how pages are used — clicks, scrolling and mouse movement, shown to us as heatmaps and session replays — so that we can see where a guide is hard to follow. How Microsoft handles this data is described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement. To stay out of both, block cookies or use a content blocker in your browser; Google also offers the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

Other third parties that load on some pages

• Cloudflare hosts the site and processes basic request data — IP address, browser type, requested page — for delivery and security.
• Embedded videos (YouTube, Bilibili). Pages with a video show only a thumbnail, loaded from i.ytimg.com, or from hdslb.com on Simplified Chinese pages that embed Bilibili. The player itself loads from youtube-nocookie.com or player.bilibili.com only after you press play; until then neither player loads and no YouTube cookies are set.
• Links to other sites. Guides link to sources, creators and official pages. Those sites have their own policies.

Cookies

QuestFern itself sets no cookies. The advertising and analytics services above may. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; doing so may make ads less relevant but never blocks any page on this site.

Children

QuestFern is a general-audience site. It is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone.
