TotK Inventory Expansion: Hestu Locations and Korok Seed Costs
Expand weapon, bow and shield slots in Tears of the Kingdom: Hestu at Lindor’s Brow, Lookout Landing and Korok Forest, slots and every upgrade cost (421 total).
The number of weapons, bows and shields you can carry is capped, and the only way to raise it is to hand Korok Seeds to Hestu. This page covers where he appears and what each slot costs; for where the seeds are, see Korok Seed locations.
How many slots do you start with, and how many can you get?
| Stash | Start | Upgrades from Hestu | Maximum | Seeds to max |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Weapons | 9 | 10 | 19 | 153 |
| Bows | 5 | 9 | 14 | 108 |
| Shields | 4 | 16 | 20 | 160 |
| Total | 35 | 421 |
There are 1,000 Korok Seeds, so 579 are left over once everything is maxed. Reportedly, getting the Master Sword adds one more weapon slot.
Where is Hestu first?
Hestu first appears at the foot of Lindor’s Brow: take the main road west from Lookout Landing to New Serenne Stable, then climb towards Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower. This is the side adventure Hestu’s Concerns:
- He is too scared to move and keeps pointing at the trees ahead. Those trees are tree monsters; defeat them.
- Talk to him. The Korok Seeds in his maracas are gone, and if you hand him seeds he will make your pouch bigger.
- Give him one seed for the first upgrade and the side adventure is complete.
Where does Hestu go next?
| Stage | Location | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| First meeting | Foot of Lindor’s Brow | After two upgrades he heads east, to somewhere with lots of people |
| Second | Lookout Landing, by the big tree near the shops | Stays here for a long time |
| Final | Korok Forest | Goes home once the Great Deku Tree’s trouble in the forest is solved and you can get in |
Hestu mentions that something feels wrong up north in Korok Forest and worries about the Great Deku Tree and his friends; he only goes home after the forest is sorted out and you can reach it.
How many Korok Seeds does each upgrade cost?
Each stash has its own price ladder:
| Upgrade | Weapons | Bows | Shields |

| 6 | 12 | 12 | 10 |

| Total | 153 | 108 | 160 |
The first few are cheap: three upgrades of each stash cost 18 seeds for nine extra slots.
Which stash should you expand first?
- Weapons: they break fastest and run out first. For other early priorities, see the beginner tips.
- Shields: the flattest prices, never more than 20 seeds a slot.
- Bows: nine upgrades, the last one 35 seeds.
