TotK Elixirs: All 13, How to Make Them, Levels and Duration
Tears of the Kingdom elixirs: all 13 and their critters, the critter-plus-monster-part rule, how levels and time add up, and the new Sticky and Bright Elixirs.
Elixirs are cooking without food: critters and monster parts in the pot. Tears of the Kingdom keeps the Breath of the Wild system and adds two elixirs, Sticky and Bright. This page covers the 13 elixirs, the rule that makes one, and how level and duration add up, all from the game’s cooking data. For meals, start at best recipes; for the whole recipe book, see all recipes.
What are the 13 elixirs in Tears of the Kingdom?
The recipe book lists them as 215 to 227, one per effect. The critter decides which elixir you get; “strength” is its value for the effect, and the strengths in the pot add up to the level.
| No. | Elixir | What it does | Critters (strength) | Levels |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 215 | Energizing Elixir | Restores stamina | Energetic Rhino Beetle (6), Restless Cricket (1) | — |
| 216 | Hasty Elixir | Speed Up | Hot-Footed Frog (2), Hightail Lizard (1) | 3 |
| 217 | Spicy Elixir | Cold Resistance | Warm Darner (2), Summerwing Butterfly (1) | 2 |
| 218 | Chilly Elixir | Heat Resistance | Cold Darner (2), Winterwing Butterfly (1) | 2 |
| 219 | Electro Elixir | Shock Resistance | Electric Darner (2), Thunderwing Butterfly (1) | 3 |
| 220 | Fireproof Elixir | Flame Guard | Smotherwing Butterfly (2), Fireproof Lizard (1) | 2 |
| 221 | Mighty Elixir | Attack Up | Bladed Rhino Beetle (1) | 3 |
| 222 | Tough Elixir | Defense Up | Rugged Rhino Beetle (1) | 3 |
| 223 | Sneaky Elixir | Stealth Up | Sunset Firefly (1) | 3 |
| 224 | Sticky Elixir | Slip Resistance | Sticky Frog (2), Sticky Lizard (1) | 3 |
| 225 | Bright Elixir | Glow | Deep Firefly (2) | 3 |
| 226 | Enduring Elixir | Restores stamina and adds extra stamina | Tireless Frog (2) | — |
| 227 | Hearty Elixir | Full heal plus extra hearts | Hearty Lizard (16) | — |
Fireproof and Sticky exist only as elixirs: every ingredient that carries them is a critter. The cooking data also has a slot 229, a plain Elixir with no effect.

How do you make an elixir?
Put at least one critter and at least one monster part in a cooking pot, five ingredients at most. A book in Gerudo Town says it in the game’s own words: “You can cook up an elixir by mixing a critter part and a monster part together.”
| What is in the pot | Result |
|---|---|
| Critters of one effect + monster parts | That elixir |
| The same, plus other food | Still that elixir |
| Critters only, or monster parts only | Dubious Food |
| Critters of two different effects | The effects cancel; do not mix |
The same book adds that putting in acorns or Chickaloo Tree Nuts will “impart your elixir with minor healing properties.” Food is allowed, but anything that carries another effect cancels the one you want.
How are an elixir’s level and duration worked out?
Level comes from the critters. Add up their strength:
| Effect | Level 2 at | Level 3 at |
|---|---|---|
| Hasty, Mighty, Tough, Sticky, Bright | 5 | 7 |
| Electro | 4 | 6 |
| Sneaky | 6 | 9 |
| Spicy, Chilly | 6 | — |
| Fireproof | 7 | — |
One slot goes to the monster part, so an elixir holds at most four critters. Four 2-strength critters (8) reach level 3 for Hasty, Electro, Sticky and Bright, and the top level, 2, for Spicy, Chilly and Fireproof. Mighty, Tough and Sneaky critters have strength 1, so their elixirs stay at level 1; cook a Mighty meal instead.
Duration adds up per ingredient:
| Ingredient | Adds |
|---|---|
| Hasty critter | 1:00 |
| Mighty or Tough critter | 0:50 |
| Sneaky, Sticky or Bright critter | 2:00 |
| Spicy, Chilly, Electro or Fireproof critter | 2:30 |
| Monster part, low tier: horns (Lynel and Gleeok horns too), Frox Fangs, wings (Keese, Gibdo, Aerocuda, Gleeok), Gibdo Bone, plain Chuchu Jelly, Octo Balloon | 1:10 |
| Monster part, middle tier: Bokoblin, Boss Bokoblin and Moblin Fangs, Lizalfos Talon, Horriblin Claw, Frox Fingernail, colored Chuchu Jelly, Octorok Tentacle and Eyeball, Keese and Aerocuda Eyeballs, Hinox Toenail and Tooth, Like Like Stones, Molduga Jaw and Fin, Lynel Hoof, Gibdo Guts | 1:50 |
| Monster part, top tier: Bokoblin, Moblin, Horriblin, Boss Bokoblin, Lynel, Gleeok, Frox, Hinox and Molduga Guts; Lizalfos tails | 3:10 |
| Any other ingredient | 0:30 |
The monster part never changes the level. A Critical Success adds 5:00, and Gibdo Guts make one certain, by the cooking data.
| Pot | Elixir | With Bokoblin Horn | With Bokoblin Guts |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hot-Footed Frog ×4 + part | Hasty | Lv3 · 5:10 | Lv3 · 7:10 |
| Bladed Rhino Beetle ×4 + part | Mighty | Lv1 · 4:30 | Lv1 · 6:30 |

What do the Hearty, Energizing and Enduring Elixirs do?
These three act the moment you drink them and have no timer.
- Hearty Elixir restores all your hearts and adds 4 extra hearts per Hearty Lizard.
- Energizing Elixir refills stamina; the Energetic Rhino Beetle is worth 6 and the Restless Cricket 1, up to a cap of 15. See Energizing.
- Enduring Elixir adds one-fifth of an extra stamina wheel per Tireless Frog, four-fifths with four. In the recipe book above, the one-frog Enduring Elixir also shows four hearts of healing. See Enduring.
When are the Sticky and Bright Elixirs worth it?
Both are new in Tears of the Kingdom. The Sticky Elixir keeps you from slipping on wet surfaces, as its description says; you need at least three Sticky Frogs for level 3, since lizards alone stay at level 1. The Bright Elixir makes Link glow; four Deep Fireflies give level 3, which is what you want in the dark of the Depths. See Sticky and Bright for where the critters live.
How do elixirs differ from meals, and what do they sell for?
| Meal | Elixir | |
|---|---|---|
| Needs | At least one food ingredient | A critter and a monster part |
| Strongest level | Five ingredients can carry the effect | At most four critters; Mighty, Tough and Sneaky stay at level 1 |
| Extra time | 0:30 per plain ingredient | Monster parts add 1:10 to 3:10 each |
| Effects only here | — | Fireproof, Sticky |
Elixirs sell by the same formula as meals: the ingredients’ sell prices added up, times a rate for how many there are. Critters are cheap, so the money is in the monster parts. Four Lynel Guts or Gleeok Guts with one critter sell for 1,443 to 1,494 rupees; the formula and the best elixirs to sell are on recipes to sell.
