TotK Like Likes: All Kinds, HP, Drops, Weak Point, Locations

Every Like Like in Tears of the Kingdom, Fire, Ice, Shock and Rock Likes too: HP, the tongue weak point, the treasure chest each drops and all 195 spawns.

10/4/2026 QuestFern Team Last updated: 10/4/2026 11 min read

The game introduces the Like Like as “a monster that has been appearing all over Hyrule in recent days”, found “in caves and other dark places”. It has “an appetite for swords and shields”: get too close and it may “swallow you whole, and eat your equipment”. This page covers the five regular kinds and the Sludge Like with their HP and drops from the game’s own data, the tongue weak point, the treasure chest every Like Like leaves behind, and a map of all 195 spawns. For other monster families see the enemy overview. Like Likes are new in this game; Breath of the Wild has none.

Which Like Likes are there and how do you tell them apart?

KindHPHow to recognize itWhat it spits
Like Like200Pale grey body, green mouth ringed with white teethNothing; it lunges to swallow you
Fire Like250Dark body cracked with glowing lava, red and orange mouthScorching fire
Ice Like250Pale icy body with white flecks, white mouth with red teethFreezing cold air
Shock Like400Yellow body with zigzag stripesBalls of lightning
Rock Like250Covered in boulders; only the mouth showsRocks
Sludge Like1,000Covered in dark sludge; a quest enemySludge that slows you

HP is from the game’s parameter files. What each one spits is from its Hyrule Compendium entry, the colors from the Compendium photos on this page. The Shock Like is the toughest of the regular kinds by far, with twice the HP of a Like Like.

A Like Like clinging to a cave wall, its pale body behind a green flower-shaped mouth ringed with white teeth
A Like Like on a cave wall. The green mouth, ringed with white teeth, opens toward you.

Where do Like Likes wait?

Like Likes stick to walls and ceilings in dark places and wait with the mouth out. In the game’s words, “if you get too close, it may lunge at you with its mouth wide, swallow you whole, and eat your equipment”. A traveler in the game warns about the same thing: the monster swallows anyone who gets too close, “stealing their swords and shields in the process”. Look at cave walls and ceilings before you walk under them.

The elemental kinds keep to matching ground. The game says Fire Likes “live mostly in caves near volcanoes” and Ice Likes “in caves in snowy areas”, and Shock Likes “expel powerful lightning balls from their mouths”, which the game believes is how they stun their prey.

A yellow Shock Like with zigzag stripes clinging to a mossy cave wall, its yellow and black mouth open
A Shock Like, the strongest regular kind at 400 HP. It shoots balls of lightning from its mouth.

What is a Rock Like?

A Rock Like on a dark cave wall, a mass of grey boulders around a green mouth with white teeth
A Rock Like. Boulders cover everything but the mouth.

The game says Rock Likes are “covered in rocks that shield them like armor” and “try to intimidate you by spitting rocks out of their mouths, but they can be quieted when they have swallowed something”. The traveler who tells you about Like Likes found that its rocky body “shrugged off even my respectable strikes”, and wished he could “send the rocks the creature spat back the way they came”. It has 250 HP, and like every Like Like its tongue takes double damage.

How do you kill Like Likes fast?

Link aiming a bow at a burning Like Like on a cave ceiling, its round orange-spotted tongue hanging out of the mouth
A Like Like on fire lets its tongue hang out, an easy target for an arrow.
  • Hit the tongue. The game says the tongue in the center of the mouth “is very sensitive. Attack it to make the creature falter.” The damage files give every Like Like, the Sludge Like included, a weak spot there that takes double damage.
  • Set it on fire. A traveler in the game tells how he swung a torch at a Like Like that ambushed him: “As the fire spread across its body, it let out a groan, exposing its tongue!” He thinks the creature “may well be weak to fire”. A Fire Fruit arrow does the job from range; then shoot the tongue.
  • Use the opposite element on the elemental kinds. The Compendium says Fire Likes “don’t do well in the cold” and Ice Likes “don’t do well with fire”.
  • Lightning. The damage files set lightning damage to 999,999 for all five regular kinds. The Sludge Like takes only 120.
  • Small element hits. For every Like Like the damage files list 3 damage when set alight plus 3 per burning tick, 20 from a shock and 10 from being frozen. These help a little; the tongue is where the real damage goes.
  • Keep your distance. If it swallows you, the game warns that it eats your equipment. Shoot from outside lunging range, or wait for it to lunge and miss before you strike.

What do Like Likes drop?

Sludge Like—No drop table

Rates are from the game’s drop tables; “rolls” is how often the game rolls that line. The arrow line also has a 5% chance each of a one-handed weapon, a two-handed weapon or a spear. A Like Like in the Depths adds Zonaite (1–2 rolls). The Rock Like has no stone of its own and drops a Like Like Stone.

  • Stones: the game calls the Like Like Stone “a strange round stone from a Like Like, made of crystallized inner fluids. It’s a good ingredient for elixirs.” The Shock Like Stone “maintains some charge even outside the creature”.
  • Armor upgrades: the third star of each piece of the Ember set, Frostbite set and Charged set takes 5 Fire Like, Ice Like or Shock Like Stones, so 15 for a whole set. See the upgrade materials table.

What is in a Like Like’s treasure chest?

Every Like Like’s drop table ends in a treasure chest that it always leaves. Each placement names a chest table for its area, and the chest holds one item from it:

Area (where the table is used)Chest contents
Hyrule Field, Akkala and most of Lanayru; part of the Depths under Central HyruleSoldier’s Shield 30%, Traveler’s Shield 20%, Wooden Shield, Soldier’s Bow, Opal, Amber, Rock Salt 10% each

Great Sky IslandOpal 100%

The tables and rates are from the game’s data; the areas are where the placements using each table sit. Shields fill most chests, which fits the game’s line about an “appetite for swords and shields”. The best chance at a Radiant Shield is a Like Like in Gerudo.

  • Like Likes are mostly in caves around Necluda and Hyrule Field (12 each). Two wait on the Great Sky Island and four on the Thunderhead Isles.
  • Fire Likes keep to Eldin: 8 of the 15 above ground and all 10 in the Depths are there.
  • Ice Likes are in the Gerudo Highlands, Lanayru and Tabantha, and in the Depths below Gerudo and Hebra.
  • Shock Likes are spread over Hyrule Field, Gerudo and Necluda; three are in Hyrule Castle, nearest to Princess Zelda’s Room.
  • Rock Likes favor Eldin (9) and Lanayru (7) above ground.

The place column is the cave’s name for cave spawns and otherwise the nearest named landmark.

For the rest of Hyrule’s monsters see the enemy overview. Most Like Likes are underground, so see also caves in Tears of the Kingdom. Fire Fruit for the burning trick is covered in the Fuse guide and bows and arrows.

FAQ

How much HP does a Like Like have in Tears of the Kingdom?
A Like Like has 200 HP. Fire Likes, Ice Likes and Rock Likes have 250, the Shock Like 400. The Sludge Like you fight at Mipha Court in the Zora quest has 1,000.
Where is a Like Like's weak point?
The tongue in the middle of its mouth. The game says it "is very sensitive" and that hitting it makes the creature falter, and the damage files give that spot double damage. A Like Like only shows it when its mouth is open, or, as one traveler in the game tells you, when its body catches fire.
What do Like Likes drop?
Always their own stomach stone (a Rock Like drops a Like Like Stone) and always a treasure chest, plus Arrow ×5 at 35% on each of one or two rolls. Fire, Ice and Shock Likes add one to three Fire, Ice or Shock Fruit, and Like Likes in the Depths add Zonaite (1–2 rolls).
What is in a Like Like's treasure chest?
One item from a table set by area. Around Hyrule Field the chest holds a Wooden, Traveler's or Soldier's Shield, a Soldier's Bow, Opal, Amber or Rock Salt; Like Likes in Gerudo give Gerudo gear (Radiant Shield 20%), those in Zora country Zora gear, and the two on the Great Sky Island always give an Opal.
Where do Like Likes spawn?
The placement data has 195: 51 Like Likes, 43 Rock Likes, 39 Ice Likes, 36 Shock Likes, 25 Fire Likes and the one Sludge Like. 76 are in caves and wells across 52 different caves, 49 in the Depths, 58 on the surface, 6 in Hyrule Castle and 6 on sky islands.
