TotK Lizalfos: Every Rank, HP, Drops and Weaknesses
Every Lizalfos in Tears of the Kingdom, green to silver, the Fire-Breath, Ice-Breath and Electric kinds and Stalizalfos: HP, drops, one-hit weaknesses and spawns.
The game calls Lizalfos “quick-witted, lizard-like monsters” found all over Hyrule, a sly species that lurks underwater or uses camouflage “to launch ambushes”. There are eight kinds: four color ranks, three elemental Lizalfos and the skeletal Stalizalfos. This page gives each one’s HP and drops from the game’s own data, how to recognize it, the one-hit kills on the elemental kinds, and where the rare ones spawn. For other monster families see the enemy overview; the Breath of the Wild version is on Lizalfos in Breath of the Wild.
How do you tell the Lizalfos ranks apart?
| Kind | HP | How to recognize it |
|---|---|---|
| Lizalfos (green) | 50 | Green scales, a thin knife-like horn |
| Blue Lizalfos | 120 | Blue scales, a very long sword-like horn |
| Black Lizalfos | 288 | Dark scales over a red body, a serrated blade-like horn |
| Silver Lizalfos | 864 | White body with purple stripes, a sickle-shaped horn |
| Fire-Breath Lizalfos | 160 | Red scales, a lava-colored horn |
| Ice-Breath Lizalfos | 160 | Pale blue scales, a horn with a crystal tip |
| Electric Lizalfos | 288 | Yellow and black scales, a horn crackling with electricity |
| Stalizalfos | 2 | A skeleton; appears in the dark |
HP comes from the game’s parameter files. The horn shapes are from the game’s own item descriptions, the colors from the Hyrule Compendium photos on this page. The Electric Lizalfos has the same 288 HP as a Black Lizalfos.
Which rank you meet depends on how far you are. Enemies are replaced by stronger ranks as you beat more of them, so a spot that held green Lizalfos early on can hold blue or black ones later.
What makes Lizalfos different from other camp monsters?
- They ambush. The game says they hide underwater or blend into the ground, then strike, so look twice at water and rock near a camp.
- They never sleep. The game says so outright, so do not wait for night to catch one asleep.
- The horn is a weapon. Even without a weapon in hand, the game warns, a Lizalfos comes at you “swinging their sword-like horn”.
- They eat meat. The game’s tip says they eat meat, fish and even small critters.
What is a Silver Lizalfos like?
The strongest rank, with 864 HP. The game says the Demon King’s magic made it “the mightiest of all Lizalfos” and that its horn “can cut anything with the slightest touch”. In the placement data every Silver Lizalfos is in the Depths; see the map below.
How do you kill Lizalfos fast?
- Aim for the head. The damage files give every Lizalfos, Stalizalfos included, a head hitbox that takes double damage.
- Use the opposite element on the elemental kinds. This is the big one, and it comes from the damage files:
- Fire-Breath Lizalfos: being frozen deals 999,999 damage, so any ice hit kills it. The game says “exposure to cold will kill them instantly”. An Ice Fruit or White Chuchu Jelly on an arrow does it.
- Ice-Breath Lizalfos: catching fire deals 999,999 damage. The game says it “will die instantly if touched by fire”. One Fire Fruit arrow is enough.
- Electric Lizalfos: no element kills it outright. The game warns that an arrow striking its horn makes the charge “discharge and arc to nearby areas”, and that it can send current out of its body, so stay back.
- Lightning. The damage files set lightning damage to 999,999 for every Lizalfos.
- Freezing elsewhere. On the four color ranks and the Electric Lizalfos, being frozen deals 10 damage on the spot instead of killing.
What are Stalizalfos?
Stalizalfos are the remains of Lizalfos. The game says they appear in the dark, are as sly as ever and still have blade-like horns, and that “if a skull remains intact, they will pull themselves back up and continue to fight”. With 2 HP one hit breaks the body; hit the skull before it rebuilds. The placement data has no fixed Stalizalfos: they come out in the dark rather than at set spots.
What do Lizalfos drop and what are the parts for?
| Monster | Always | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| Lizalfos | Lizalfos Horn | Lizalfos Talon 30%; Lizalfos Tail 25% |
| Blue Lizalfos | Blue Lizalfos Horn | Lizalfos Talon 40% (up to 2 rolls); Blue Lizalfos Tail 25% |
| Black Lizalfos | Black Lizalfos Horn | Lizalfos Talon 80% (up to 2 rolls); Black Lizalfos Tail 25% |
| Silver Lizalfos | Silver Lizalfos Horn; Lizalfos Talon (3–4 rolls) | Silver Lizalfos Tail 25% |
| Fire-Breath Lizalfos | Fire-Breath Lizalfos Horn; Lizalfos Talon (2 rolls) | Fire-Breath Lizalfos Tail 25% |
| Ice-Breath Lizalfos | Ice-Breath Lizalfos Horn; Lizalfos Talon (2 rolls) | Ice-Breath Lizalfos Tail 25% |
| Electric Lizalfos | Electric Lizalfos Horn; Lizalfos Talon (2 rolls) | Electric Lizalfos Tail 25% |
| Stalizalfos | — | Lizalfos Talon (up to 2 rolls) |
Rates are from the game’s drop tables; “rolls” is how often the game rolls that line. Weapons a Lizalfos carries are not part of these tables. Every Lizalfos rolls its tail at 25%, so tails, the elemental ones above all, take about four kills each.
| Part | Fuse attack power |
|---|---|
| Lizalfos Horn · Blue · Black · Silver | 8 · 16 · 26 · 34 |
| Fire-Breath, Ice-Breath, Electric Lizalfos Horn | 15 each |
| Lizalfos Tail · Blue · Black · Silver | 6 · 16 · 24 · 31 |
| Fire-Breath, Ice-Breath, Electric Lizalfos Tail | 10 each |
| Lizalfos Talon | 5 (counts double on arrows) |
- Fuse: the game describes the tails as giving “a lashing, whiplike quality to attacks” when fused, and the elemental horns as holding fire, ice or electric power you can put to use. See the Fuse guide and bows and arrows.
- Armor upgrades: the Zora set needs Lizalfos parts at every star, from three Lizalfos Horns up to five Black Lizalfos Horns and five Blue Lizalfos Tails per piece. The Snowquill set takes Fire-Breath Lizalfos parts, the Desert Voe set Ice-Breath ones, and the Rubber set Electric ones. See the Zora set, Snowquill, Desert Voe, Rubber and the upgrade materials table.
- Elixirs: every horn, tail and talon can be cooked with a critter into an elixir, as the item descriptions say.
- Lizalfos Mask: not a drop, but Koltin’s sixth reward, at 14 Bubbul Gems in total. The game says it helps you “blend in with Lizalfos”; see Bubbul Gems.
Where do Lizalfos spawn?
| Kind | Surface | Hyrule Castle | Caves | Depths | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Lizalfos (green) | 178 | — | — | 99 | 277 |
| Blue Lizalfos | 72 | 5 | 4 | 89 | 170 |
| Black Lizalfos | 55 | 2 | 1 | 46 | 104 |
| Silver Lizalfos | — | — | — | 24 | 24 |
| Fire-Breath Lizalfos | 36 | 3 | 1 | 21 | 61 |
| Ice-Breath Lizalfos | 39 | — | — | 35 | 74 |
| Electric Lizalfos | 34 | — | 1 | 41 | 76 |
| Total | 414 | 10 | 7 | 355 | 786 |
These are the game’s placement data, with each spawn counted under the rank it is placed as. Gerudo Canyon also has 64 extra spots where a Fire-Breath and an Ice-Breath Lizalfos are placed side by side (128 placements); they are not in the table or the map. With 551 green, blue and black Lizalfos, a map of everything would be a solid smear, so the maps below show only the ones people look for: the three elemental kinds and the Silver Lizalfos.
The elemental Lizalfos live where the game says they do. On the surface, most Fire-Breath Lizalfos are in Eldin around Death Mountain, most Ice-Breath ones in the snow of Hebra, the Gerudo Highlands and Tabantha, and most Electric ones in the Gerudo Desert, in line with the game’s “they live in desert climates”; a few more sit on the Faron and Necluda coasts.

In the Depths
Most of the Depths has no place names of its own, so the name given for a Depths spot is the name of the place on the surface directly above it. Find that name on the surface map and the spot is straight below. All 24 Silver Lizalfos are here, spread over Gerudo, Tabantha, Necluda, Hebra, Hyrule Field and Lanayru.
