TotK Moblins: Every Rank, HP, Drops and Spawn Map
Every Moblin in Tears of the Kingdom, red to silver, plus Stalmoblins: HP, drops, weak points, how to beat them fast and a map of all 430 placed Moblins.
The game calls the Moblin a “heavyweight species of monster” found all over Hyrule, with a horn “hard enough to crush a rock” and arms strong enough to pick up Bokoblins and throw them. This page covers all five kinds, from the red Moblin to the Silver Moblin and the Stalmoblin: their HP and drops from the game’s own data, how to recognize each rank, the fastest ways to beat them, and a map of all 430 Moblins the game places. For the other monster families see the enemy overview; for the smaller cousins see Bokoblins.
How do you tell the Moblin ranks apart?
| Rank | HP | How to recognize it |
|---|---|---|
| Moblin (red) | 62 | Red skin, a lumpy bone growth on the head |
| Blue Moblin | 144 | Dark blue skin, one wide curved horn with two tips |
| Black Moblin | 360 | Near-black skin, a heavy horn covered in barbs |
| Silver Moblin | 1,080 | White body with purple patterns |
| Stalmoblin | 3 | A skeleton; appears in the dark |
The HP comes from the game’s parameter files. The horn shapes are from the game’s own item descriptions: the red Moblin’s horn “resulted from a skull mutation”, the blue one has “two extremely hard tips” and the black one “multiple tough barbs”. The silver patterns come from the Hyrule Compendium entry.
Which color you meet depends on how far you are. Enemies are replaced by stronger variants as you beat more of them, so a camp that held a red Moblin early on can hold a blue or black one later.
What is a red Moblin like?
The weakest rank, with 62 HP, already more than two Bokoblins put together. The game’s monster tips add that Moblins are carnivores that need “sizable helpings of meat and fish” to keep their bulky frames going. A Moblin often guards a camp alongside Bokoblins, and when it has nothing in its hands it may pick one of them up and throw it at you.
What is a Blue Moblin like?
A Blue Moblin has 144 HP. The game says it is much tougher than the red kind, with more powerful arms and “a fully developed horn”. From this rank up, a Moblin can drop Moblin Guts.
What is a Black Moblin like?
With 360 HP the Black Moblin is almost six times as tough as a red one. The game calls it one of “the most dangerous types of Moblin” and says a blow from its heavy horn “can easily crush a rock”. Five of the six Moblins placed in Hyrule Castle are black ones, in the Library and Princess Zelda’s Study.
What is a Silver Moblin like?
The strongest Moblin, with 1,080 HP. The game says the Demon King’s magic gave Silver Moblins “the greatest power and resilience of all the Moblins”, that they are called silver for their body color and their rarity, and that their “ominous-looking horn” can deliver a powerful attack. Every Silver Moblin drops Moblin Guts and its horn.
What are Stalmoblins?
Stalmoblins are the remains of Moblins. The game says they “appear in the dark”, crumble “after just a few attacks” and keep pulling themselves back together as long as the skull is intact; it also says they hate strong light. With 3 HP the body falls apart quickly, so hit the skull once it drops. A Dazzlefruit defeats Stal monsters at once. A Stalmoblin’s arm can be picked up as a weapon, the Moblin Arm, which the game describes as a Moblin bone that “continues to move even after being detached”.
How do you beat Moblins fast?
- Aim for the head. The damage files give every Moblin, Stalmoblin included, a head hitbox that takes double damage. A headshot with an arrow is the quickest way to open a fight.
- Keep your distance from the arms. Moblins reach further than Bokoblins and hit hard. Fight a Moblin last when it guards a camp with Bokoblins, or it will throw them at you.
- Use fire, ice and shock. The damage files set burn damage for every rank, so a grass fire hurts a whole camp. Being frozen deals 10 damage on the spot, and a shock deals 20 and makes a Moblin drop its weapon.
- Sneak up. A sneakstrike on a Moblin that has not spotted you does far more damage than a normal hit; a Puffshroom cloud lets you get close.
- Lightning finishes it. The damage files set lightning damage to 999,999 for every Moblin rank, so a thunderstorm can end the fight for you.
What do Moblins drop and what are the parts for?
| Monster | Always | Chance |
|---|---|---|
| Moblin | Moblin Horn | Moblin Fang 30% |
| Blue Moblin | Blue Moblin Horn | Moblin Fang 80% (up to 2 rolls); Moblin Guts 20% |
| Black Moblin | Black Moblin Horn | Moblin Fang 70% (3–4 rolls); Moblin Guts 60% |
| Silver Moblin | Silver Moblin Horn; Moblin Guts; Moblin Fang (3–4 rolls) | — |
| Stalmoblin | Moblin Fang (2–4 rolls) | — |
Rates are from the game’s drop tables. “Rolls” is how often the game rolls that line. Weapons a Moblin carries are not part of these tables.
- Fuse: a horn fused to a weapon adds its attack power. The Black Moblin Horn adds 24 and the Silver Moblin Horn 33; a Moblin Fang adds 4 and Moblin Guts 1. The game says fangs give “more attack power” on arrows. See the Fuse guide.
- Elixirs: every horn, fang and gut can be cooked with a critter into an elixir, as each item description says. The guts are “too pungent for normal food preparation”. See best recipes.
- Armor upgrades: the Flamebreaker set needs Moblin parts at every star, from 3 Moblin Horns at one star to 5 Black Moblin Horns at four stars; the Soldier’s set needs 3 Moblin Guts and the Radiant set 2 Moblin Guts per piece at two stars. Details in the Flamebreaker set and the upgrade materials table.
- Moblin Mask: not a drop, but Koltin’s second reward for Bubbul Gems, once you have handed over 3 in total. See Bubbul Gems.
Where do Moblins spawn?
| Where | Moblin | Blue | Black | Silver | Stalmoblin | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Surface | 62 | 76 | 63 | — | 8 | 209 |
| Hyrule Castle | — | — | 5 | 1 | — | 6 |
| Caves | — | 4 | 2 | — | 4 | 10 |
| The Depths | 55 | 49 | 73 | 23 | 5 | 205 |
| Total | 117 | 129 | 143 | 24 | 17 | 430 |
These are the game’s placement data, each spawn with the color it is placed as; after the rank changes described above, the same spot may hold a stronger color in your game. On the surface the most Moblins are in Eldin (45 spawns) and Hyrule Field (44). The 17 Stalmoblins are the ones placed to stay all day, for example in Korok Forest, Ginner Woods and the Depths; Stal monsters that rise at night are not part of this data. One Moblin is the target of the side quest An Uninvited Guest at Wetland Stable.
The map shows all 430. Use the buttons above it to switch between the surface and the Depths, and the filters to show only one rank or region. Most of the Depths has no place names of its own, so the name given for a Depths spot is the name of the place on the surface directly above it. Find that name on the surface map and the spot is straight below.
