Tears of the Kingdom Hylian and Soldier's Sets: Where to Get and Upgrade

The Hylian and Soldier’s sets are plain defense: no set bonus, but they upgrade to solid numbers. The Hylian set is the first one you can buy; the Soldier’s set is hidden under Hyrule Castle. For every set see all armor; the full upgrade tables are also on armor upgrade materials.

Where do you buy the Hylian set?

All three pieces are sold at the Armor Shop in Lookout Landing (Game8): the Hylian Hood for 70 rupees, the Hylian Tunic for 130 and the Hylian Trousers for 120.

Where do you find the Soldier’s set?

All three are chests in the Royal Hidden Passage under Hyrule Castle (Game8; positions from the game’s placement data). For the Soldier’s Armor, go down the hole in the jail cell room, head to the end and Ascend.

Do they have a set bonus?

Neither set has one; Zelda Dungeon’s Set Bonus page lists no bonus for them. Wear them for defense, or for looks.

How much defense does each piece give?

Hylian pieces go from 3 to 20; Soldier’s pieces from 4 to 28, as high as the Zonaite set.

What does it take to upgrade them?

Upgrades are done at a Great Fairy Fountain, one star at a time, for rupees plus materials. The tables are per piece.

The Hylian set needs Bokoblin parts at every star and Amber at the top; the Soldier’s set ends with Lynel Hooves and Guts, see Lynel locations.
