TotK Gloom Spear: How to Get It and Is It Worth Using

The Gloom Spear is “a spear whose ominous appearance strikes fear into hearts”. Like the other gloom weapons it is never placed in the world. You get it by beating a Phantom Ganon that is holding one.

Where do you get the Gloom Spear?

From a Phantom Ganon wielding it. Each Phantom Ganon carries a sword, a club or a spear and drops the one it was holding, so you may need to fight a few before one has a spear. They appear:

• In Crisis at Hyrule Castle, five of them.
• In the Deku Tree’s chasm, during the Master Sword chapter.
• After Gloom Spawn, the gloom hands (Gloom Hands) that rise from gloom-covered ground.

Is the Gloom Spear worth using?

40 attack, 16 durability. No spear hits harder, but “its gloom will gradually wear down the body of its wielder”: each hit costs you hearts. Fused onto another weapon it does not. For a spear that lasts, the Lightscale Trident has 70 durability.
