Tears of the Kingdom Flamebreaker Set: Where to Buy, Bonus, Upgrades

The Flamebreaker set (often just called the fireproof set) is what you wear on Death Mountain and in the Fire Temple: Flame Guard on every piece keeps you from catching fire near lava. It is sold in Goron City. For every set see all armor; the other upgrade tables are on armor upgrade materials.

Where do you find each piece of the Flamebreaker set?

All three are sold at the armor shop in Goron City (Game8):

• Flamebreaker Helm — 1,400 rupees.
• Flamebreaker Armor — 700 rupees; Game8 also lists it at a shop near Darunia Lake.
• Flamebreaker Boots — 1,200 rupees.

What does the Flamebreaker set bonus do?

Zelda Dungeon: “Negates all fire damage.” Each piece on its own has Flame Guard, the protection that stops you burning in the heat around lava.

How much defense does each piece give?

3 at base and 20 at four stars.

What does it take to upgrade the Flamebreaker set?

Upgrades are done at a Great Fairy Fountain, one star at a time, for rupees plus materials. The table is per piece; the whole set needs three times as much.

Every star needs Moblin parts; Fireproof Lizards, Smotherwing Butterflies and Flint are all found around Death Mountain. The same lizards and butterflies go into fireproof elixirs and dishes, which do the job before you can afford the set. For the Fire Temple boss see temple bosses.

When should you wear the Flamebreaker set?

Wear it on Death Mountain, around Eldin’s lava and in the Fire Temple. Once all three are at two stars, fire attacks from enemies no longer hurt you either. Outside Eldin you will rarely need it.
