How do you beat a Stone Talus?
In the game’s words, “neither sword nor arrow can pierce its stony form, but a cunning adventurer knows to scale its body and attack the ore sprouting from its peak.”
It throws boulders at you from range. Game8 suggests Recall on a thrown boulder to send it straight back and stun the Talus.
Luminous and Rare Taluses fight the same way; they just have more HP. Igneo and Frost Taluses need one step first. The game says an Igneo Talus can be climbed “if you can use something to chill its flames”, and a Frost Talus “if you use something to thaw its icy exterior”. Game8 fuses a Splash Fruit or Chuchu Jelly (Igneo), or a Fire Fruit (Frost), to your arrows: once doused or thawed, the Talus falls, and you climb up and hit the ore before the magma or ice grows back. Both throw an arm at you from close range; sprint away or Recall it.
How do you beat a Battle Talus?
A Battle Talus is a Talus that monsters have turned into “what might be called a moving fort”, its body “reinforced with wooden planks” so that “it can’t be easily climbed”.
What does a Talus drop?
Every Talus always drops its heart (the game item ”… Talus Heart”). The rest comes from two rolls:

How do you get the Stone Talus Monster Medal?
The medal comes from Gralens of the monster-control crew, in the Emergency Shelter at Lookout Landing, once you have beaten every Talus — the same routine as the Hinox Monster Medal.
- After one of the crew’s side adventures, Gralens offers the big-monster quests (Game8). One is WANTED: Stone Talus: by the game’s quest log, “this huge boulder-like monster was spotted at North Akkala Foothill in Akkala”.
- Beat all 87. Once the quests are done, Gralens tells you how many of each kind are left (Game8).
- Go back to him for the medal.
