Which shield is the best?

The Hylian Shield leads on both: guard 90 and durability 800 — more than the other 32 shields combined (594). GameWith lists where it is: a side hole near the Hyrule Castle harbor. After it, guard is highest on the Royal Guard’s Shield (70, but durability 14), the Sea-Breeze Shield (65) and the Savage Lynel Shield (62); durability on the Sea-Breeze Shield (90) and the Daybreaker (60). No other shield lasts past 29.

What does fusing to a shield do?

The game’s tip: Fuse “enables you to attach items not only to swords or arrows but also to shields”. Two effects are documented:

• Shield bash: the material’s fuse attack power raises the shield bash (Zelda Dungeon).
• Material effects: Game8’s material list gives, for example, a Fire Fruit igniting the shield “when an enemy attacks the shield”, and its Fuse guide a Zonai Flame Emitter making “a shield that spews flames”.
