The Wind Temple is the last stretch of the main quest Tulin of Rito Village. It is a huge ship, the Stormwind Ark, hidden inside a permanent blizzard high above Hebra. You need Tulin with you for most of it: his gust is how you cross gaps, start the turbines and fight the boss.

Where is the Wind Temple and what do you need?

Bring cold resistance. The Brazen Beak in Rito Village sells the Snowquill pieces (Snowquill Set), and cold-resist meals work too. The climb gets colder the higher you go, so stack more resistance for the sky islands if you can.

How do you get from Rito Village to the Wind Temple?

  1. Watch the argument at Rito Village. At the top of the village, Tulin, Teba and Saki argue and Tulin flies off. Teba asks you to talk to Harth.
  2. Find Harth at the lodge. Head north to the Hebra Trailhead Lodge and ask Harth where Tulin went.
  3. Climb through Hebra South Summit Cave. Talk to Laissa at the start, then ride the updrafts upward. Where there is no draft, light a fire with flint and drop a Hylian Pine Cone on it to make one. Gesane waits at the far end and points you on.
  4. Help Tulin on Talonto Peak. Tulin is at the lone tree on the summit. An Aerocuda has stolen his bow: use his gust to glide to the ruin, shoot the Aerocuda down, and fight off the monsters that follow.
  5. Reach the Rising Island Chain. Climb the Zonai ruins at Hebra Peak and use Tulin’s gust and Ascend to get onto the floating islands. Some players launch from the Pikida Stonegrove Skyview Tower instead and glide there. Mayaumekis Shrine sits near the start of the chain; activate it as a travel point.
  6. Bounce off the ships. Head northwest. Stomp through the ice circles on the platforms to free the flying ships below, then land on them to bounce higher. Use Ascend to pass through pillars.
  7. Build a balloon lift. One gap needs a lift: attach a Balloon above a Flame Emitter and ride it up.
  8. Stop at Kahatanaum Shrine. Higher up you reach Kahatanaum Shrine, a blessing with no puzzle. It is the last travel point before the ship.
  9. Hop ship to ship around the storm. Glide from the ship outside the shrine to the next ones, watching which way each ship is flying and which way the wind blows. The last one carries you above the clouds.
  10. Dive into the eye of the storm. From above the clouds, dive straight down into the calm centre and land on the deck. Examine the terminal there: it becomes a travel point and shows the five locks on the central hatch.

How do you open all five turbines?

Every lock is a turbine that opens once Tulin’s gust spins it. Guides give the locks different compass labels, so they are described here by where they are.

Turbine 1: the broken lever on 1F

  1. Find the two facing gates. In front of the hatch on 1F are two gates with a lever each. The right-hand lever is broken off.
  2. Give it a new handle. Pick up the large icicle nearby with Ultrahand and attach it to the lever’s base. Any long object works.
  3. Pull the lever. Move the icicle with Ultrahand to throw the lever. The gate opens.
  4. Spin the turbine. Have Tulin blow the turbine inside. The other gate’s lever opens a hallway that leads to the Opal chest.

Turbine 2: the laser shaft at the bow

  1. Ride the hatch updraft. Jump into the updraft from the hatch and glide up.
  2. Land on the tallest structure. Glide to the top of the tall building at the front of the ship.
  3. Open the hatch on top. Use Ultrahand to open it.
  4. Drop down the shaft. Fall through the shaft, steering around the lasers. If you hit one, open your paraglider, ride the fan back up and try again.
  5. Spin the turbine. At the bottom, go through the opening and have Tulin blow the turbine. The Soldier Blade chest is across the shaft: jump and glide to it, but not so long that the fan lifts you away.

Turbine 3: the caved-in room on B1

  1. Glide into the B1 window. Jump off the west side of the ship and steer into a window on B1.
  2. Cross the gap and fight. Use Tulin’s gust to cross, and defeat the Soldier Construct.
  3. Go up through the ceiling. Use Ascend where the ceiling is still intact to reach the upper level of the room.
  4. Make the ceiling bar spin. A bar hangs from a ceiling gear. Attach loose slabs to it like paddles and blow them with Tulin’s gust, or turn it with Ultrahand and keep it turning with Recall.
  5. Go through the door while it spins. The south door only stays open while the bar turns. Climb the ladder beyond it.
  6. Spin the turbine. Defeat the construct and have Tulin blow the turbine. On the way out, the frozen chest on your left holds a Soldier II Spear; melt it first.

Turbine 4: the gear hallway on B1

  1. Break in from the east. Glide from the east side of the ship to the entrance blocked by icicles and smash them.
  2. Ride the big gear. Stand on the rotating gear and use Recall on it so it carries you across.
  3. Defeat the construct. A Soldier Construct guards the room.
  4. Bring down an icicle. Shoot a large icicle from the ceiling.
  5. Jam it between the gears. Attach the icicle between the two gears on the wall so the stopped gear turns with the moving one. The gate opens.
  6. Spin the turbine. Have Tulin blow it. Pull the lever at the end of the hallway as well: it opens the way out you use for the last turbine. Near the entrance, the Sapphire chest sits behind bars; stick an icicle to it and drag it out through the gap.

Turbine 5: the room under the hull

  1. Leave by the opening from turbine 4. Or drop from the side of the ship onto the lowest flapping wing.
  2. Glide under the ship. Turn back beneath the hull and aim for the small room there, using Tulin’s gust if you fall short.
  3. Defeat the Soldier Construct II. It waits inside.
  4. Spin the turbine. Have Tulin blow the last one.
  5. Climb back to the deck. Jump the small gap, take the stairs and the ladder, and use Ascend to get back up.

With all five turbines spinning, examine the central terminal again. The hatch opens and a column of wind throws you and Tulin up to Colgera.

Chests 1, 7 and 8 hold weapons that already have a construct material fused on; the names above are the ones guides use.

How do you beat Colgera?

Colgera’s weak spots are the round segments on its body, each behind a spiky shell. Dive at one and shoot it; Tulin’s gust keeps you airborne and moves you out of the way of its attacks. In the second phase it adds tornadoes and teleports under you. The full fight, with HP and screenshots, is on the temple bosses page.

Beating Colgera gives a Heart Container and the Vow of Tulin, Sage of Wind. From then on you can summon Tulin’s avatar and use his gust anywhere.

What comes next?

Three regional temples remain, and you can take them in any order. The main quest order guide compares the options. The other three are the Fire Temple, the Water Temple and the Lightning Temple.
