BotW Wizzrobes: All Six Types, HP, Rods and Locations
Every Wizzrobe in Breath of the Wild: HP, the rod each one carries, the element that kills it in one hit, what it summons, and a map of all 52 spawns.
The game describes Wizzrobes as “spell-casting monsters” that “can be found all over Hyrule”. Each one floats in the air with a magic rod, throws elemental magic, calls up elemental monsters and changes the weather. This page gives the HP of all six from the game’s parameter files, the rod each carries, the element that kills each in one hit, and a map of all 52 spawn points. The other monster families are in the enemy overview, and the Wizzrobes of the sequel are on the Tears of the Kingdom Wizzrobe page.
Which Wizzrobes are in Breath of the Wild?
| Wizzrobe | HP | Rod it carries | Monsters it summons |
|---|---|---|---|
| Fire Wizzrobe | 150 | Fire Rod | Fire Keese, small Fire Chuchus |
| Ice Wizzrobe | 150 | Ice Rod | Ice Keese, small Ice Chuchus |
| Electric Wizzrobe | 150 | Lightning Rod | Electric Keese, small Electric Chuchus |
| Meteo Wizzrobe | 300 | Meteor Rod | Fire Keese, medium Fire Chuchus |
| Blizzrobe | 300 | Blizzard Rod | Ice Keese, medium Ice Chuchus |
| Thunder Wizzrobe | 300 | Thunderstorm Rod | Electric Keese, medium Electric Chuchus |
HP and summons are from the game’s parameter files; the rods are the weapons each Wizzrobe is placed with. The stronger kinds have twice the HP and call up bigger Chuchus. The game text says each one can raise the temperature, bring a blizzard or a thunderstorm, and that “the weather will normalize once the Wizzrobe is defeated”.
What does a Meteo Wizzrobe look like?
All six share the same shape: a long robe, a tall pointed hood, glowing eyes and a wide grin. The robe and the rod tell you the element.
What does a Blizzrobe look like?
What does an Electric Wizzrobe look like?
What are Wizzrobes weak to?
| Wizzrobe | Fire | Ice | Shock | Head |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Fire, Meteo | Cannot burn | 9,999 | 20 | Double damage |
| Ice, Blizzrobe | 9,999 | Cannot freeze | 20 | Double damage |
| Electric, Thunder | 10, then burning | 10 | Cannot be shocked | Double damage |
These come from each Wizzrobe’s damage file. A 9,999 hit is far more than any Wizzrobe’s 150 or 300 HP:
- Fire and Meteo Wizzrobes: one Ice Arrow, or a hit with an ice weapon such as the Ice Rod.
- Ice Wizzrobes and Blizzrobes: one Fire Arrow, or a hit with a fire weapon.
- Electric and Thunder Wizzrobes: no one-hit element. Shoot the head for double damage, or close in with a strong melee weapon.
How do you beat a Wizzrobe?
- Aim for the head. Every Wizzrobe’s damage file sets a head weak point with double damage.
- Shoot when it shows itself. After taking a hit, a Wizzrobe often vanishes and reappears nearby. Wait for it to reappear rather than wasting arrows.
- Clear the summons. It calls up Keese and Chuchus of its own element (see the first table). Elemental Chuchus burst when hit up close, so shoot them.
- Mind the weather. A fire Wizzrobe brings heat, an ice one a blizzard, an electric one a thunderstorm; dress for it, or end it by beating the Wizzrobe. In a thunderstorm, put away metal weapons and shields.
- Take the rod. The rod drops when the Wizzrobe falls, so you can turn its magic against the next one: an Ice Rod against a Fire Wizzrobe, a Fire Rod against an Ice Wizzrobe.
What do Wizzrobes drop?
Only the rod they hold. The drop tables of all six list nothing but a rod at a 0% chance, so there are no Wizzrobe materials.
| Rod | Carried by | What the game says it does |
|---|---|---|
| Fire Rod | Fire Wizzrobe | Casts fireballs; breaks if it strikes something directly |
| Ice Rod | Ice Wizzrobe | Casts waves of freezing air |
| Lightning Rod | Electric Wizzrobe | Shoots balls of electricity |
| Meteor Rod | Meteo Wizzrobe | Casts three fireballs at once |
| Blizzard Rod | Blizzrobe | Casts extreme cold over a wide range |
| Thunderstorm Rod | Thunder Wizzrobe | Hurls three balls of electricity at once |
Rod stats are on the all weapons page.
Where do Wizzrobes spawn?
| Wizzrobe | Spawns |
|---|---|
| Fire Wizzrobe | 13 |
| Ice Wizzrobe | 9 |
| Electric Wizzrobe | 12 |
| Meteo Wizzrobe | 4 |
| Blizzrobe | 12 |
| Thunder Wizzrobe | 2 |
| Total | 52 |
These are the game’s placement data for Normal Mode. Three more Wizzrobes (one Fire, one Ice, one Electric) are placed only in Master Mode, and one record that repeats an existing spot is counted once.
- Fire Wizzrobes sit around lakes and the desert canyons: 4 in the Lake tower region and 4 in the Wasteland. Two of them, at Lake Siela and Deya Lake, can be replaced by a stronger kind as the game goes on.
- Blizzrobes are in the snow: 5 in the Hebra tower region, 3 in the Gerudo tower region, and others as far apart as Mount Hylia and Daval Peak.
- Electric Wizzrobes spread from Faron and Lanayru to the Breach of Demise.
- Meteo Wizzrobes are at Rok Woods, Shadow Hamlet Ruins, Thyphlo Ruins and Crenel Hills; Thunder Wizzrobes only at Crenel Hills and Cuho Mountain.
- Crenel Hills is the place to find several kinds: it holds 5 Wizzrobes of five different types.

The landmark is the nearest named place on the map. “Grade” says whether the Wizzrobe at that spot can be replaced by a stronger kind as the game goes on.
For the other monster families see the enemy overview, and for good bows to shoot Wizzrobes with see the bows page. Wizzrobes in the sequel are covered in Tears of the Kingdom Wizzrobes.
