The game calls Bokoblins a “common species” that is “a nuisance all over Hyrule”: not very clever, but “intelligent enough to hunt beasts and grill the meat for food”, and fond of fruit as well. This page covers every rank in Breath of the Wild from the red Bokoblin to the Master Mode Golden Bokoblin and the Stalkoblin: HP and drops from the game’s own data, how to tell them apart, the quickest kills, and a map of all 1,060 Bokoblins the game places in Normal Mode. Other monster families are in the enemy overview.

How do you tell the Bokoblin ranks apart?

RankHPHow to recognize it
Bokoblin (red)13Red skin, pink snout
Blue Bokoblin72Dark blue skin with lighter patches
Black Bokoblin240Dark brown skin with lighter patches
Silver Bokoblin720White body with purple markings
Golden Bokoblin (Master Mode)1,080Gold body with white patches
Stalkoblin1A skeleton; at night

The HP comes from the game’s parameter files; the Silver Bokoblin’s purple markings are from its Hyrule Compendium entry, the other colors from how they look in the game.

A Black Bokoblin (left, dark brown with pale patches) and a Blue Bokoblin (right) attack together at a camp.

The higher ranks are tougher and better armed. The game says Blue Bokoblins are “tougher and have stronger weapons than the red Bokoblins” and that Black Bokoblins are “among the most dangerous type”, often “armed with advanced weapons”.

The Bokoblin on the right, white with purple markings, is a Silver Bokoblin, the strongest rank in Normal Mode.

The game says Silver Bokoblins have been influenced by “Ganon’s fiendish magic”, which makes them stronger than even the Black ones, and that “silver” refers both to their color and their rarity.

What is the Golden Bokoblin?

A Golden Bokoblin has 1,080 HP and exists only in Master Mode, the hard mode that comes with the first DLC pack. The game says it is said to be a Silver Bokoblin that changed after being struck by lightning, which may be why it has “such a high tolerance for electric attacks”.

What are Stalkoblins?

Stalkoblins are the remains of Bokoblins and “appear in the dark of the night”, in the game’s words. One blow breaks them apart, but “as long as a skull remains intact” they pull themselves back together, and now and then one picks up the wrong skull. Break the skull to finish one. A Stalkoblin’s arm can be picked up and used as a weapon, the Bokoblin Arm.

How do you beat Bokoblins fast?

  • Aim for the head. The damage files put every Bokoblin’s weak point on the head with a damage ratio of 2.0, so headshots with arrows do double damage.
  • Use bombs. In the same files, a bomb blast of any size sends a Bokoblin flying; a Moblin only staggers. Blue Bokoblins have learned to “kick a Remote Bomb out of the way”, the game says, so throw it and detonate at once.
  • Freeze, then hit hard. Being frozen deals 10 damage and the blow that breaks the ice deals triple damage (ice break ratio 3.0).
  • Lightning kills any Bokoblin. Lightning damage is 999,999 for every rank.
  • Shock barely stops a Golden Bokoblin. Its shock stun in the damage files is a quarter as long as the other ranks’ (15 against 60).

What do Bokoblins drop and what are the parts for?

BokoblinDrops
BokoblinBokoblin Horn ×1; Bokoblin Fang 30%
Blue BokoblinHorn ×1; Fang ×1–2 at 80%; Bokoblin Guts 40%
Black BokoblinHorn ×1; Fang ×1–2; Guts ×1
Silver BokoblinHorn ×1; Fang ×2–3; Guts ×1; one gem (Topaz, Ruby, Sapphire 33% each, Diamond 1%); ×2–3 at Amber 20%, Opal 5%, Topaz/Ruby/Sapphire/Diamond 1% each
Golden Bokoblin (Master Mode)As Silver, but the gem roll is 32% each and Diamond 4%
StalkoblinFang ×1–2; Horn 50%

These are the game’s drop tables. “×1–2” means one or two rolls, and a percentage is the chance per roll. The weapons a Bokoblin carries are not part of these tables.

These are the game’s placement data. The data holds 1,188 Bokoblin records; 97 are marked as Master Mode only, 22 belong to the One-Hit Obliterator trial of The Champions’ Ballad, and 9 are a second record stored at exactly the same spot as another, so they are counted once. “Rank up” is the data’s own flag: those Bokoblins move up through the colors as your world level rises, which is how Silver Bokoblins appear late in the game. None is placed as silver.

The most Bokoblins are around the Faron (105), Great Plateau (101) and Dueling Peaks (95) towers.

How much HP do Bokoblins have in Breath of the Wild?
A red Bokoblin has 13 HP, a Blue Bokoblin 72, a Black Bokoblin 240 and a Silver Bokoblin 720. The Golden Bokoblin, found only in Master Mode, has 1,080, and a Stalkoblin 1.
What does a Silver Bokoblin drop?
A Bokoblin Horn, Bokoblin Guts, two to three Bokoblin Fangs and one gem: Topaz, Ruby or Sapphire at 33% each, or a Diamond at 1%. It then rolls two or three more times for Amber (20%), Opal (5%) or a 1% chance at each of the four gems.
