BotW Recipes to Sell: Best Meals and Elixirs for Rupees
What cooked food sells for in Breath of the Wild: the price formula, checked against 311 real dishes, the best meals to sell and why Lynel Guts elixirs reach 2,330.
Cooking adds value in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild: a dish sells for 1.5 to 2.8 times what its ingredients fetch on their own. This page gives the game’s price formula, the meals that sell best, and the elixirs that sell for the most, with where their monster parts come from.
How is the sell price of cooked food worked out?
Add up the sell prices of everything in the pot, multiply by the rate for that many ingredients, drop the decimals, and round up to the next 10.
| Ingredients | Rate |
|---|---|
| 1 | ×1.5 |
| 2 | ×1.8 |
| 3 | ×2.1 |
| 4 | ×2.4 |
| 5 | ×2.8 |
The rates come from the game’s cooking data, and the count is how many items go in, not how many kinds. We checked the formula against 311 dishes recorded with in-game screenshots, from 2 to 910 rupees, and every one matches.
For example, Raw Gourmet Meat sells for 35:
| Raw Gourmet Meat | Sum | × rate | Meat Skewer sells for |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | 35 | 52.5 | 60 |
| 2 | 70 | 126 | 130 |
| 3 | 105 | 220.5 | 220 |
| 4 | 140 | 336 | 340 |
| 5 | 175 | 490 | 490 |
A five-ingredient pot earns the most per ingredient, so cook in fives.
Which meals sell for the most?
Five of one ingredient, everything that makes 200 rupees or more:

| Endura Carrot | Fried Wild Greens | 420 | 30 |
| Sanke Carp | Fish Skewer | 280 | 20 |

| Raw Prime Meat | Meat Skewer | 210 | 15 |
| Raw Bird Thigh | Meat Skewer | 210 | 15 |

Raw Gourmet Meat drops from large animals. Trott at Outskirt Stable also buys Raw Gourmet Meat at 100 a piece once you have done his side quest; see rupee farming.
Which elixirs sell for the most?
An elixir is critters plus monster parts, and monster parts are where the money is. With four Lynel Guts (200 rupees each) and one critter:
| Critter | Elixir | Sells for |
|---|---|---|
| Energetic Rhino Beetle | Energizing Elixir | 2,330 |
| Hearty Lizard | Hearty Elixir | 2,300 |
| Tireless Frog | Enduring Elixir | 2,300 |
| Fireproof Lizard | Fireproof Elixir | 2,260 |
| Bladed Rhino Beetle | Mighty Elixir | 2,260 |
| Rugged Rhino Beetle | Tough Elixir | 2,260 |
| Any 2-rupee critter (butterflies, darners, Hot-Footed Frog, Sunset Firefly) | Its elixir | 2,250 |
The critter matters little; the four monster parts set the price. With an Energetic Rhino Beetle (30 rupees, the dearest critter), four of each part sell for:
| Four of | Sells for | Four of | Sells for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lynel Guts | 2,330 | Lynel Horn | 540 |
| Giant Ancient Core | 2,330 | Ancient Shaft | 540 |
| Molduga Guts | 1,320 | Hinox Tooth | 480 |
| Hinox Guts | 980 | Red Lizalfos Tail | 480 |
| Ancient Core | 980 | Molduga Fin | 420 |
| Lynel Hoof | 650 | Bokoblin Guts | 310 |
Where the parts come from: Lynel Guts from White-Maned and Silver Lynels (always), Blue-Maned (60%) and red ones (10%), see Lynel farming; Molduga Guts from the four Moldugas; Hinox Guts from Hinoxes; ancient cores from Guardians, see ancient materials.
For every dish and what it does, see all recipes and the best recipes. The sequel uses a different formula: see Tears of the Kingdom recipes to sell.
