BotW Eventide Island Guide: Stranded on Eventide Rules and 3 Orbs
Beat Stranded on Eventide in Breath of the Wild: what the island takes from you, no warping or saving, where the 3 orbs and altars are, enemies and supplies.
What is the Eventide Island trial?
Eventide Island is a small island far out in the Necluda Sea, in the southeast corner of Hyrule in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The moment you step onto it, the shrine quest Stranded on Eventide begins: a voice announces a trial and strips you of your weapons and armor. The voice also tells you how to win them back:
Offer up the orbs to the three altars on this island. Only then will I acknowledge your skill and return your items.
| How it starts | Step onto Eventide Island; nobody gives you the quest |
| Goal | Place 3 orbs on 3 altars |
| What is taken | Weapons, armor, materials, food — everything you carry; the Sheikah Slate and runes stay |
| Restrictions | No warping, no saving |
| Giving up | Swim away from the island; your items come back and the trial restarts next time |
| Reward | Korgu Chideh Shrine rises on Koholit Rock and your gear is returned |
This page covers the island as a whole: getting there, the rules, where the orbs and altars are, and what you can find. For the step-by-step screenshots, see the Korgu Chideh Shrine guide.
Where is Eventide Island and how do you get there?
The island is in Hyrule’s far southeast, in the Faron Tower region. Three ways across:
- Glide: head southeast from Cape Cales, where Muwo Jeem Shrine is. It takes about two stamina wheels; if you are short, bring stamina-restoring food and eat it mid-flight.
- Raft: as one traveler puts it, “If you hop on a boat and head east of Lurelin Village, you can get to Eventide Island!”
- Cryonis: chain ice blocks across the water. Slow but safe.
Before you land, a chest on the rocks near the island holds a Purple Rupee.
How should you prepare before your gear is taken?
All you can bring are the Sheikah Slate runes (Remote Bomb, Magnesis, Stasis, Cryonis) and the Champion abilities — Urbosa’s Fury can stun a whole camp at once. Freeing a few Divine Beasts first makes the island much easier.
The usual trick: before you step onto the sand, stand in the shallows or on a rock and drop the weapons, shield and bow you want. After the trial starts, walk back and pick them up; they are no longer taken. You can also eat heart- and stamina-boosting meals before you land.
Where are the three orbs and altars?
| Orb | How to get it | Altar it goes on |
|---|---|---|
| On the wooden platform of the Bokoblin treehouse camp on the east side | Clear or sneak past the camp’s Bokoblins | The altar at the north tip, in the sea: drop the orb in the water and lift it with Cryonis |
| On the Blue Hinox’s necklace (south-central woods, west of Koholit Rock) | While it sleeps, glide onto it from above or climb onto its hand | The altar on the southwest hill: metal crates sit on it, move them with Magnesis |
| In the camp on Koholit Rock | Guarded by a Blue Moblin and archers on lookout towers | The altar next to that camp, under a big stone slab: freeze the slab with Stasis and hit it away |
Any order works. A safe route is the treehouse orb first (weakest enemies, and you can grab a bow), then the Hinox’s orb, then Koholit Rock last.
What enemies and supplies are on the island?
The enemies are mostly low-ranked, but you start empty-handed, so none of them are a pushover:
| Enemy | Where |
|---|---|
| Bokoblins (red and blue) | The campfire on Toronbo Beach, the east treehouse camp, the Koholit Rock camp |
| Stalkoblins | The woods in the middle of the island |
| Blue Moblin | The Koholit Rock camp |
| Blue Hinox | West of Koholit Rock (carrying an orb) |
| Chuchus, Fire Chuchus, Electric Chuchus | All over; Electric Chuchus guard the southwest altar |
| Octoroks | The shoreline and shallows |
First weapons: three Bokoblins sit around a campfire on Toronbo Beach next to a pile of explosive barrels. Set off the barrels with a Remote Bomb before they spot you and most of them go down at once; take their Boko Spears. The Koholit Rock camp has explosive barrels too.
Food: Hearty Durians and Hearty Truffles grow on the island — cook one on its own for a full heal plus extra hearts. There are also Palm Fruit, Mighty Bananas, Bird Eggs and Hylian Shrooms, and a cooking pot to use them.
Chests: more than ten chests on the island and in the shallows around it, mostly Soldier’s swords, spears, bows and shields, plus a Zora Spear, a Silver Shield, an Iron Sledgehammer and a Knight’s Broadsword.
What should you watch for when the trial ends?
When the last orb goes in, the shrine rises from the top of Koholit Rock and your original gear comes back. Drop any weapons you found on the island and want to keep before you place the last orb, then pick them up again; otherwise they are taken away with the trial.
Inside the shrine you just open the chest and see the monk; there is no extra puzzle. Once the trial is over its restrictions are gone, so leaving and coming back does not reset anything.
