Vah Rudania Walkthrough: All 5 Terminals, Chests and Rewards

Vah Rudania is the Goron Divine Beast on Death Mountain. The quest starts in Goron City and ends with Fireblight Ganon. If you have not picked an order yet, the Divine Beast order guide compares all four.

What do you need before Vah Rudania?

Heat is the main obstacle. Without fire protection Link catches fire on Death Mountain, and the mine where the quest takes you needs at least two levels of Flame Guard.

The Flamebreaker Helm costs 2,000 rupees and the Flamebreaker Boots 700 rupees at the Goron City armor shop. The Flamebreaker set page covers all three pieces and their upgrades. Also bring Ice Arrows or an ice weapon for the boss, a few Remote Bomb charges (you always have them), and wooden arrows to light at blue flames.

How do you reach and board Vah Rudania?

1. Talk to Bludo in Goron City. The Goron boss has a bad back, and Yunobo has not come back from fetching his painkillers in the Abandoned North Mine.
2. Get two levels of Flame Guard. Buy Flamebreaker pieces or brew a Fireproof Elixir before you head north to the mine.
3. Rescue Yunobo in the Abandoned North Mine. Load bombs into the mine cannons to blast boulders out of the way, then fire a cannon at the rubble sealing the vault to free Yunobo.
4. Report back to Bludo. He thanks you with three Fireproof Elixirs, then sends you after Yunobo when his back gives out again.
5. Save Yunobo at the Bridge of Eldin. Defeat the two Black Moblins attacking him. He climbs into the cannon; strike the lever to aim it and fire him to lower the bridge.
6. Choose the whistle as your signal. Whistle once to make Yunobo stop and again to make him follow.
7. Fire Yunobo from all three cannons. Sentries sweep the slope with searchlights, and Vah Rudania drops magma bombs if they spot either of you. Stop Yunobo in cover, move him between searchlights, and fire him at the Beast from each cannon. Moblins may guard the cannons. After the third hit Rudania falls into the crater.
8. Glide down onto Vah Rudania. Jump from the crater rim, land on the Beast, and activate the terminal at the entrance to register a Travel Gate.

How do you get the Vah Rudania map?

9. Open the chest at the tip of the tail. Before going inside, run to the end of the tail for an Ancient Screw.
10. Shoot the glowing eyeballs for a Torch. The first room is dark. Destroying the eyeballs drops chests, and one of them holds the Torch.
11. Light the unlit lanterns to open two gates. Light the Torch at a blue flame near the entrance, carry it to the unlit lantern in the far-right corner, then relight it and do the same with the lantern in the next room’s far-left corner. A Guardian Scout waits in that second room.
12. Take the map at the Guidance Stone. Place the Sheikah Slate on the pedestal. Shutters on the Beast’s back open and light up the interior.

How does the Vah Rudania tilt work?

The map has one control: it rolls the whole Beast 90 degrees onto its side, and using it again returns it upright. Walls become floors while it is on its side, which is how you reach ledges, outdoor ramps and the spine. Any terminal can be done in any order once you have the map; the order below works front to back.

How do you activate all five terminals?

13. Terminal 1: glide to the wall terminal. This terminal sits sideways on a wall of the main hall. Tilt Rudania onto its side from the map, then jump and glide across to the terminal as the room turns. If you miss, stand it upright and try again.
14. Terminal 2: climb outside and shoot the spine eye. With the Beast on its side, climb the big ramp to the outside. Stand it upright while you walk along the side wall that becomes the floor, then shoot the eyeball on the spine.
15. Terminal 2: walk the spine and clear the Malice. Tip Rudania onto its side again and walk along the spine spikes; the Ancient Core chest is at the end of one. Stand it upright once more, shoot the Malice covering the terminal, and activate it.
16. Terminal 3: carry fire to the outdoor lantern. With the Beast upright, light your Torch at a blue flame. Tip it onto its side, climb the ramp outside, return it upright, and light the outdoor lantern. Do not climb while carrying the Torch, or Link puts it away. A gate opens and a ball rolls into a tube.
17. Terminal 3: roll the ball into its slot. Tip the Beast so the ball rolls down the ramp to the metal box blocking the bottom. Lift the box with Magnesis, let the ball drop into its socket, and activate the terminal behind the gate that opens.
18. Terminal 4: open the metal double doors. Right of the entrance, a wooden plank and vines hold two metal doors shut. Burn them with a Fire Arrow or a wooden arrow lit at the blue flame, pull the doors open with Magnesis, and activate the terminal. Burn the ceiling vines in this room to drop the Ancient Gear chest.
19. Terminal 5: shoot fire through the hole in the door. Light an arrow at the blue flame near the entrance and shoot it through the hole in the door so it hits the torch behind. The door opens onto a wall of flames.
20. Terminal 5: cover the flame vents. Burn the vines on the ceiling to the left to drop a metal block, and use Magnesis to set it over the vents on the right. Tip the Beast onto its side to get past the fire, stand it upright again, and activate the last terminal.
21. Activate the Main Control Unit. It sits on top of the Beast, reached by the outdoor ramp and spine. Touching it starts the Fireblight Ganon fight.

What are all the chests in Vah Rudania?

The Silver Rupee room is the one most players skip, so check it off before you touch the Main Control Unit.

How do you beat Fireblight Ganon?

• Phase 1: it swings a greatsword in vertical and horizontal arcs. Dodge at the last moment for a Flurry Rush, and stun it with Ice Arrows to the eye.
• Phase 2 (half health): it floats out of sword range behind a ring of fire. When it starts inhaling, throw a Remote Bomb into it and detonate it to bring it down.
• Late attacks: hide behind a pillar from its laser and big fireball, then punish it on the ground.

What rewards does Vah Rudania give?
