TotK Gloom Sword: How to Get It and Is It Worth Using

The Gloom Sword is the blade of the Demon King’s phantoms. No chest holds one and nothing places it in the world: you take it from a Phantom Ganon that is carrying it. The game’s warning comes with it: “Its gloom will gradually wear down the body of its wielder.”

Where do you get the Gloom Sword?

From a Phantom Ganon. Each one carries one of the three gloom weapons (sword, club or spear), and the one it is holding is the one it drops. Phantom Ganons can also leave a Demon King’s Bow. Phantom Ganons show up:

• In Crisis at Hyrule Castle. You fight five of them with the sages.
• After Gloom Spawn. Destroy the hands of gloom (players call them Gloom Hands) and a Phantom Ganon appears.
• In the Deku Tree’s chasm, during the Master Sword chapter, after its Gloom Spawn.

Is the Gloom Sword worth using?

41 attack and 15 durability. No one-handed weapon has more attack, but every hit you land with it costs you hearts to gloom, and it breaks quickly. Fuse it onto another weapon instead: as a fused material it does not hurt you. Gloom and how to clear it are covered with warding food.
