Breath of the Wild Hylian and Soldier's Sets: Where to Buy, Upgrades

These are the two plain sets of Breath of the Wild — no special effect on any piece and no set bonus, only defense. They are cheap, sold early in Hateno Village, and upgraded with common monster parts. For every set see all armor; for the Great Fairies see armor upgrade materials.

Where do you buy the Hylian set?

The Hylian Hood (60 rupees), Tunic (120) and Trousers (90) are sold at Ventest Clothing Boutique in Hateno Village and at Enchanted in Kakariko Village (Game8; prices from the game’s shop data). A pair of Hylian Trousers is also in a chest at the Temple of Time on the Great Plateau.

Where do you buy the Soldier’s set?

Only at Ventest Clothing Boutique in Hateno Village (Game8): the Helm for 180 rupees, the Armor for 250 and the Greaves for 200.

Do they have a set bonus?

No. Game8’s set list gives “None” for both sets, and the game data has no bonus for them.

How much defense does each piece give?

Hylian set:

The Soldier’s set starts higher and ends at 28 per piece, 84 for the set at four stars. Zelda Dungeon counts it, with the Ancient set and the Armor of the Wild, among the strongest sets for defense.

What does it take to upgrade them?

Hylian set — only Bokoblin parts and Amber:
