BotW Hasty Food: Speed Recipes and Ingredients
Hasty food in Breath of the Wild: the 6 ingredients that boost movement speed, how Lv1 to Lv3 work, the easiest recipes and where to find them.
What does Hasty food do in Breath of the Wild?
Hasty food speeds up everything Link does on foot: running, climbing and swimming, as the elixir’s description puts it. It has three levels. It is at its best on long climbs, where it saves stamina by getting you up faster, and on routes you would otherwise walk.
The game says: “Grants a low-level movement-speed boost.” The elixir’s description: “Grants a low-level haste effect, which boosts your movement speed while running, swimming, or climbing.”
Which ingredients give Hasty?
Six ingredients carry it. The strengths of the matching ingredients in one pot add up, and a total of 5 or more makes Lv2 and 7 or more Lv3; anything below 5 is Lv1. Duration adds up per piece: each effect ingredient adds 1:00, up to the 30:00 cap.
| Ingredient | Type | Strength | Time each | Sells for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Swift Violet | Plant | 2 | 1:00 | 10 |
| Fleet-Lotus Seeds | Fruit | 2 | 1:00 | 5 |
| Hot-Footed Frog | Critter | 2 | 1:00 | 2 |
| Swift Carrot | Plant | 1 | 1:00 | 4 |
| Rushroom | Mushroom | 1 | 1:00 | 3 |
| Hightail Lizard | Critter | 1 | 1:00 | 2 |
Only Rushroom, Swift Carrot and Hightail Lizard have strength 1; the other three have 2. Hot-Footed Frog and Hightail Lizard are critters, so they only go into the Hasty Elixir.
What is the easiest way to cook a Hasty dish?
Every row below was run through the cooking simulator built on the game’s data. “Lv” is the effect level and the time is how long it lasts.
| What goes in the pot | Result | Effect | Restores |
|---|---|---|---|
| Swift Carrot ×1 | Fried Wild Greens | Lv1 · 1:00 | 1 heart |
| Fleet-Lotus Seeds ×3 | Simmered Fruit | Lv2 · 3:00 | 3 hearts |
| Fleet-Lotus Seeds ×4 | Simmered Fruit | Lv3 · 4:00 | 4 hearts |
| Swift Violet ×4 | Fried Wild Greens | Lv3 · 4:00 | 0 hearts |
| Rushroom ×5 | Mushroom Skewer | Lv2 · 5:00 | 5 hearts |
| Hot-Footed Frog ×4 + Bokoblin Horn ×1 | Hasty Elixir | Lv3 · 5:10 | — |
| Fleet-Lotus Seeds ×4 + Shard of Dinraal’s Horn ×1 | Simmered Fruit | Lv3 · 30:00 | 7.75 hearts |
For the top level, four ingredients of strength 2 are all you need; the fifth slot is free for something that adds time. Rushrooms are everywhere, but even five only reach Lv2, so mix two of them with a pair of Fleet-Lotus Seeds or Swift Violets instead. A dragon horn shard takes any Hasty dish straight to 30:00.
Where do you find Hasty ingredients?
The compendium column is what the Hyrule Compendium shows for each entry. The last column counts where the map data places plants, mushrooms and fruit; critters mostly appear from area spawns, so they have no count.
| Ingredient | Compendium: common locations | Fixed placements in the map data |
|---|---|---|
| Swift Violet | Gerudo Highlands, Hebra Mountains | 1,133; most near Ludfo’s Bog, East Deplian Badlands, Lake Kilsie |
| Fleet-Lotus Seeds | Lanayru Wetlands, Lanayru Great Spring | 132; most near Millennio Sandbar, Linebeck Island, Rabella Wetlands |
| Hot-Footed Frog | Lanayru Great Spring, Hyrule Ridge | — |
| Swift Carrot | Kakariko Village | 32; most near Kakariko Village, Nima Plain, Highland Stable |
| Rushroom | Gerudo Highlands, Hyrule Ridge | 2,100; most near Tanagar Canyon, Laparoh Mesa, Zirco Mesa |
| Hightail Lizard | West Necluda, East Necluda | — |
Rushrooms are the most placed ingredient of any effect, 2,100 in the map data; the game says they prefer ceilings and sheer cliffs. Swift Violets bloom mainly on cliffsides, so you pick both while climbing. Fleet-Lotus Seeds grow in water, most of all in the Lanayru Wetlands. 26 of the 32 placed Swift Carrots are in Kakariko Village, in the farm field and the shop. The game’s description says Hot-Footed Frogs hop around near water.
Which dishes ask for Hasty ingredients by name?
Most meals in Breath of the Wild take “any mushroom” or “any fruit”, so any of them carries Hasty when you use the ingredients above. The dishes below are the ones whose own recipe names one of those ingredients: the carrot dishes, because the Swift Carrot counts as a carrot.
