BotW Soldier's Set: Hateno Shop Prices and Upgrades

The Soldier’s set has nothing but defense, and a lot of it: it starts higher than most sets and ends level with the strongest. You can buy it early in Hateno Village, but the last upgrade needs Lynel parts. For the cheaper set from the same shop see the Hylian set; for every set see all armor.

Where do you buy the Soldier’s set?

Only Ventest Clothing in Hateno Village sells it:

630 rupees for the set. No chest in the world holds it.

Does the Soldier’s set have a set bonus?

No. The game data gives it no set bonus and none of the pieces has an effect. The pieces can be dyed in Hateno Village.

How much defense does it give?

4 per piece at base and 28 at four stars, 84 for the set. That ties it with the Ancient set and the Armor of the Wild for the highest set defense; only the single Champion’s Tunic goes higher.

What do the upgrades cost?

Upgrades are done at a Great Fairy Fountain, one star at a time, and cost only materials. The helm needs slightly different amounts at three stars, so each piece has its own table:

The parts climb with the stars: Chuchus and Bokoblins, then Keese and Moblins, then Lizalfos and a Hinox, and finally two Lynel Hooves and two Lynel Guts per piece. Every Lynel is on the Lynel locations page.
