BotW Hylian Set: Where to Buy, Prices and Upgrades

The Hylian set is the most ordinary armor in the game: no effects, no set bonus, just defense. It is cheap, sold in two early villages, and its upgrades use the most common monster parts. For the sturdier set sold in the same shop see the Soldier’s set; for every set see all armor.

Where do you get the Hylian set?

Two shops sell all three pieces, at the same prices:

• Ventest Clothing in Hateno Village
• Enchanted in Kakariko Village

The trousers can also be had for free: a chest at the Temple of Time on the Great Plateau holds a pair. The table below lists that chest; the hood and tunic come only from the shops.

Does the Hylian set have a set bonus?

No. The game data gives the Hylian set no set bonus, and none of the three pieces has an effect of its own. The pieces can be dyed in Hateno Village.

How much defense does it give?

3 per piece at base, 20 at four stars, 60 for the full set. The Soldier’s set from the same Hateno shop starts at 4 and reaches 28.

What do the upgrades cost?

Upgrades are done at a Great Fairy Fountain, one star at a time, and cost only materials. The three pieces use the same materials, listed per piece:

Every star uses Bokoblin parts, and four stars adds 15 Amber per piece. Bokoblins are the most common monsters in Hyrule, so the first three stars come together while you explore. Each extra star needs another fountain opened: see Great Fairy Fountains and armor upgrade materials.
