Where is Kayra Mah Shrine?

Kayra Mah Shrine — also known as ‘The Secret of The Hero’ — hides inside Gorko Tunnel, south of Gorko Lake in the southern Eldin region (Eldin Canyon), and the Sheikah Slate cannot detect it at all until the shrine quest is done. The quest starts with Bladon in the southwest region of Goron City; the Rock Roast errand then runs out of the tunnel and down the hill to Gortram Cliff and back. The entrance is a Goron dig site walled off by rubble until Gonguron breaks through. Eldin’s other shrines — Daqa Koh, Qua Raym, Tah Muhl, Gorae Torr, Mo’a Keet, Shae Mo’sah, Shora Hah and Sah Dahaj — are scattered elsewhere around the region.

What should you bring?

You need no special gear for the trial itself — the hazards can be beaten by simply running and evading. Stasis (to freeze a ball mid-roll) and Magnesis (to grab one flying straight at you) are optional safety nets. You do want the Paraglider, since both chests are reached by gliding from a higher elevation on the incline. The real requirement is progress: without finishing A Brother’s Roast — which sends you to fetch a Rock Roast from Gortram Cliff — the shrine never opens.

How do you solve Kayra Mah Shrine?

Greedy Hill is one joke told well: the slope tempts you with rupees that roll down just ahead of big metal boulders and the quicker spiked iron balls. Pick a lane, don’t chase the money, and climb to the monk.

1. Start the Shrine Quest

Talk to Bladon in the southwest region of Goron City. He’s upset about his little brother Gonguron running off to dig up the ‘secret of the hero’ in Gorko Tunnel — this conversation starts the A Brother’s Roast shrine quest.

Travel to Gorko Tunnel, south of Gorko Lake in the southern Eldin region and head inside. You’ll find Gonguron picking at a wall of rubble; talk to him and he admits he’s spent, his belly empty and rumbling.

Bladon arrives shortly after and asks you to fetch a Rock Roast from Gortram Cliff — ‘Exit here and head down the hill,’ as he puts it.

2. Fetch the Rock Roast

Leave the tunnel and follow the hill down to Gortram Cliff, where rock roasts are rolling around. Pick one up.

Carry the Rock Roast back to Gorko Tunnel and hand it over. Bladon cooks it into a Deliciously Grilled Rock Roast, and Gonguron wolfs it down.

Watch the scene: Gonguron regains his strength and digs through the rubble, revealing the shrine — the ‘secret of the hero,’ which he half-recognizes (‘Weird… I feel like I’ve seen somethin’ like this before in Goron City…’). The shrine can now be entered, and the Sheikah Slate can finally detect it.

3. Enter the Shrine and Face the Incline

Inside, the monk Kayra Mah greets you. You’re facing a steep incline sectioned by gapped fences along its center, creating three paths upward, with the monk’s pedestal at the very top.

Step onto the slope and the traps trigger: big metal boulders (Iron Balls) and the quicker spiked iron balls come rolling down at you, with rupees of various amounts mixed among them as bait.

4. Climb the Incline Safely

Hug the left hand edge of the path, right next to the metal fencing — only a few balls threaten you there, and you’ll only have to move out of the way of those.

If a ball is flying directly at you and you can’t dodge, freeze it with the Stasis Rune or wrench it aside with Magnesis — both work on the rolling hazards.

Do not detour for rupees mid-climb — each one is dropped just before a hazard arrives. Keep moving until every trap has been released; once no rupees are left on the slope, the rest of the climb is completely safe.

5. Collect the Wall Chests

From a higher elevation on the incline, paraglide out to the two chests along the walls — one sits on a platform, the other in an alcove in the wall — and open both for five Bomb Arrows and a Ruby.

6. Collect the Rupees and Complete the Shrine

If you want the bait money after all, walk back down to the bottom of the incline: the missed rupees collect there once the traps are spent.

Speak to Kayra Mah at the pedestal on top of the hill to receive your Spirit Orb. The monk wishes you well before fading away.

What do people miss here?

• Hunting for the shrine first is a dead end: the Sheikah Slate cannot detect it at all until A Brother’s Roast is finished. Start with Bladon in the southwest region of Goron City.
• Skipping Bladon doesn’t work — the tunnel is just a rubble-blocked dig site until the quest plays out and Gonguron digs the shrine out.
• The rupees rolling down are bait, dropped shortly before each ball. Chasing them mid-climb puts you in front of a spiked ball; instead finish the climb, let the traps run dry, then descend to the bottom where every missed rupee collects.
• Both chests sit along the shrine walls — one on a platform, one in an alcove — and need a Paraglider glide from higher elevation. Players who beeline to the monk can clear the shrine without ever seeing them.
• Feeling cornered doesn’t mean restarting: the Stasis Rune freezes any incoming ball in place, and Magnesis can pull one flying straight at you out of your lane.
