BotW Kilton and Fang and Bone: Locations, Hours, Mon and Prices
Kilton's Fang and Bone in Breath of the Wild: meeting him at Skull Lake, his 7 night-time spots, 8 p.m.–4 a.m. hours, Mon for every monster part, and prices.
Who is Kilton and what is Fang and Bone?
Kilton is a monster-obsessed merchant in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild who runs Fang and Bone, a shop that opens only at night. He sells monster gear from his research — masks, monster horse gear, the Dark set — and accepts only Mon, a currency he invented. In his words:
Here’s the deal: if you bring me monster parts, I’ll exchange them for mon. I’m the only business in Hyrule that accepts mon as payment!
| First meeting | Skull Lake in Akkala, at night |
| Afterwards | Outside seven settlements, at night |
| Hours | 8 p.m. to 4 a.m. |
| Currency | Mon (traded for monster parts) |
| Stock | More items with each Divine Beast you free |
Where do you first find Kilton?
Go to Skull Lake in northern Akkala at night. The lake is shaped like a skull, and Kilton is on the lower of its two “eye” islands; the tall rock spire on the other eye holds Zuna Kai Shrine. In the daytime you’ll find nobody.
On your first meeting he asks whether you like monsters. As a first-time customer you have to trade some monster parts for Mon before you can buy anything, so bring a few.
Hoz, a mercenary at East Akkala Stable, gives the side quest A Shady Customer: someone is running a business called Fang and Bone, and he wants to see what this person looks like. Take a picture of Kilton with the Sheikah Slate camera and show it to him.
Where does Kilton set up shop afterwards?
After your first conversation Kilton leaves Skull Lake and appears at night outside these settlements — the same places he names when he leaves (Goron City is not one of them):
| Settlement | Roughly where |
|---|---|
| Kakariko Village | Near Lantern Lake by the village |
| Hateno Village | Near the village |
| Lurelin Village | Korne Beach near the village |
| Tarrey Town | Lake Akkala, under the bridge to town |
| Zora’s Domain | Near Veiled Falls |
| Gerudo Town | By the ruins west of town (West Barrens) |
| Rito Village | North of the village |
Each spot has a sign: “Fang and Bone (only open at night)”. Reportedly the shop won’t appear if you stand right on the spot waiting for 8 p.m.; walk away and come back.
How do you get Mon, and which parts are worth the most?
Hand Kilton your monster parts and choose “Exchange for mon.” You can trade one kind at a time or choose “All of them!” As he puts it, “The more rare they are, the more mon they’re worth!” What each part is worth (game data):
| Monster part | Mon |
|---|---|
| Bokoblin Horn / Fang / Guts | 3 / 5 / 10 |
| Moblin Horn / Fang / Guts | 2 / 6 / 12 |
| Lizalfos Horn / Talon / Tail | 5 / 8 / 12 |
| Red / Icy / Yellow Lizalfos Tail | 16 each |

| Chuchu Jelly; Red / Yellow / White Chuchu Jelly | 3; 5 each |

| Dragon Scale / Claw / Fang Shard / Horn Shard (each dragon) | 60 / 80 / 110 / 150 |
| Monster Extract | 2 |
What does the shop sell and for how much?
All prices are in Mon, from the game data. Each Divine Beast you free adds items:
| Item | Price | Divine Beasts freed | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Monster Extract | 9 | 0 | A strange cooking spice; stock 5 → 10 → 20 |
| Wooden Mop | 19 | 0 | A sturdy mop that works as a weapon |
| Bokoblin Mask | 99 | 0 | Blend in with Bokoblins |
| Spring-Loaded Hammer | 199 | 1 | Barely hurts, but sends the target flying |
| Moblin Mask | 199 | 1 | Blend in with Moblins |
| Lizalfos Mask | 299 | 2 | Blend in with Lizalfos |
| Monster Saddle | 299 | 2 | Cosmetic horse gear |
| Monster Bridle | 399 | 2 | Cosmetic horse gear with a mask over the horse’s head |
| Lynel Mask | 999 | 3 | Blend in with Lynels |
| Dark Hood | 1,999 | 4 | Dark set |
| Dark Tunic | 999 | 4 | Dark set |
| Dark Trousers | 999 | 4 | Dark set |
Every item except Monster Extract is a single piece. Monster Extract stock rises with the Divine Beasts: 5 with 0–1 freed, 10 with 2–3, 20 with all 4. Reportedly, once you buy out the stock you need to stay away from his spots for a full day before it restocks.
The full Dark set gives Night Speed Up — see the Dark set. The monster saddle and bridle are only cosmetic; see the horse guide.
What else does Kilton give you?
Kilton also asks you to hunt three kinds of giant monsters. Defeat every one of a kind, come back, and he gives you a Medal of Honor:
| Medal | Requirement |
|---|---|
| Medal of Honor: Talus | Defeat all 40 Stone Taluses — see Talus locations |
| Medal of Honor: Hinox | Defeat all 40 Hinoxes — see Hinox locations |
| Medal of Honor: Molduga | Defeat all 4 Moldugas — see Molduga locations |
