The shrine sits at the center of Rist Peninsula, the stretch of land in the Akkala Highlands that juts into the Akkala Sea. For reference, Katosa Aug Shrine is north of here and Kah Mael Shrine is to the south, with Tutsuwa Nima off to the northwest — any of them makes a decent jump-off point. Start from the base of the peninsula, where the ruins holding the Stone Tablet stand, and work your way inward. Don’t hunt for a glowing shrine on the horizon: it’s buried underground next to a Pedestal until you finish the quest, so all you’ll see at the center is terrain and that Pedestal.

What should you bring?
Nothing at all is required — no runes, no weapons, no armor or resistances. The only tasks are reading a stone tablet, carrying an orb, and then walking a flat, empty corridor inside. If you show up without any gear whatsoever, you will still finish this shrine; nothing inside can block or damage you.
The entire trial happens before the door: wake the buried shrine by delivering an Ancient Orb to the Pedestal at the heart of Rist Peninsula, and the monk inside simply hands you the reward.
1. Find the Stone Tablet and Ancient Orb
Arrive at Rist Peninsula and head for its center — you’re looking for a stone Pedestal, not a shrine, because the shrine is still buried underground next to it.
Go to the base of the peninsula and find the ruins there; a Stone Tablet stands among them.
Read the Stone Tablet. Its inscription — “Only a hero bearing this ancient orb shall be granted the right of trial on Rist Peninsula” — triggers the shrine quest Into the Vortex.
Confirm the quest has appeared in your Adventure Log, then pick up the Ancient Orb lying at the ruins by the tablet.

2. Carry the Orb to the Central Pedestal
Carry the Ancient Orb away from the base and toward the center of the peninsula; your Adventure Log objective is to bring the orb to the peninsula’s center.
Reach the Pedestal at the center of Rist Peninsula and set the orb into its concave slot.

3. Ritaag Zumo Shrine Rises
Watch the ground open as Ritaag Zumo Shrine rises up from underground — the shrine quest completes on the spot.

4. Enter the Shrine and Collect Rewards
Enter the shrine. The monk Ritaag Zumo greets you and says that by entering this place, you’ve already proven your worth.
There are no puzzles and no enemies — simply follow the direct path leading toward the monk’s Pedestal.
Along that path you’ll pass a Treasure Chest: open it to collect a Giant Ancient Core.
Walk up to Ritaag Zumo at the Pedestal. He congratulates you, bestows a Spirit Orb, wishes you well, and fades away — shrine complete.

How to get it

Giant Ancient Core
Sits directly on the walkway between the entrance and the monk’s Pedestal, so you pass right by it. Open it before you collect your Spirit Orb — it’s a precious item you won’t want to leave behind.
What do people miss here?
Circling the peninsula’s center and finding only a Pedestal doesn’t mean you’re in the wrong spot — the shrine is buried underground and won’t exist until the Ancient Orb is placed in the slot.
‘Into the Vortex’ never starts on its own. If the quest isn’t showing in your Adventure Log, you skipped reading the Stone Tablet in the ruins at the base of the peninsula — go back and examine it.
The Ancient Orb isn’t at the Pedestal; it’s back at the base ruins next to the tablet. If you walked to the center empty-handed, return for the orb and carry it in yourself.
Players who beeline to the monk can stride straight past the chest — it’s on the path, slightly off your line of travel. If you do leave without it, just re-enter the shrine; with no puzzles inside, there’s nothing to redo.
Don’t dismiss the chest as filler loot — the Giant Ancient Core it holds is a precious item, and this is the single reward chest of the shrine.
Because it's buried underground until you finish the 'Into the Vortex' quest. Read the Stone Tablet at the base of Rist Peninsula, carry the Ancient Orb to the Pedestal at the center, and place it in the concave slot — the shrine then rises from the ground.
How do I start the Into the Vortex shrine quest?
Examine the Stone Tablet among the ruins near the base of Rist Peninsula. Reading it adds 'Into the Vortex' to your Adventure Log and points you toward the Ancient Orb.
Where is the Ancient Orb for Into the Vortex?
It's at the ruins by the Stone Tablet near the base of the peninsula — not at the Pedestal. Pick it up there and carry it all the way to the center of Rist Peninsula yourself.
Is there a puzzle inside Ritaag Zumo Shrine?
No. It's a Blessing shrine with a direct path and no puzzles or enemies. Walk in, open the chest on the way, and collect your Spirit Orb from the monk.
What's in the Ritaag Zumo Shrine chest?
A Giant Ancient Core — a precious item. The chest sits on the path between the entrance and the monk's Pedestal, so grab it before you claim your Spirit Orb.
