Where is Rin Oyaa Shrine?

Rin Oyaa Shrine sits practically next door to Snowfield Stable in the southwestern Tabantha Tundra. From the stable, it’s a short walk west across the flat, open snowfield, and the shrine structure stands out plainly on the white plain. The only real hazard on the approach is the cold itself, so travel warmed up; if you’re chaining shrines, Rona Kachta lies to the east, while Gee Ha’rah is to the southwest and Rok Uwog to the northwest.

What should you bring?

Nothing special is required to enter — there’s no shrine quest, and the interior has no combat, so no weapons or arrows are needed. The only tool that matters is the Magnesis rune, which you’ll already have from the Great Plateau. For the walk across the snowy tundra, cold-resistant food or armor is strongly recommended; without it, the freezing open snowfield will steadily drain your hearts before you even reach the door.

How do you solve Rin Oyaa Shrine?

This trial is a wind-routing puzzle: six fans blow the Ancient Orb around the room, but two of them shove it into a dead end. Cap those two fans with the metal blocks so the orb rides one unbroken wind path into the concave slot — while you stand on the platform that rises to meet it.

1. Block the two problem fans

Walk in and read the room: a ramp on one side with an Ancient Orb you’ll roll down it, a central hole ringed by a concave slot, six wall-mounted fans, two loose metal blocks, and a gray tilted platform near the ramp, with the monk’s pedestal on the level above.

Identify the two problem fans: of the six, four push the orb along the correct route from the stone platform toward the slot, but two — near the center of the room, on the walls of the hole — blow it into a dead end.

Use Magnesis to lift a metal block and press it flat against each of those two center fans, capping them like a lid. With both covered, the wind forms one uninterrupted stream around the whole room.

2. Roll the orb and ride the platform up

Look at the gray tilted platform near the ramp — that’s your elevator. Note where it sits now, because you must be standing on it the instant the orb drops into the slot.

Roll the Ancient Orb down the ramp and let the wind catch it; the stream will carry it around the room toward the central hole.

Track the orb as it rolls. The moment it passes the first metal block you placed, pick that block back up with Magnesis — past that point, the orb no longer needs the fan blocked.

Carry the block up and set it on the ledge at the upper right of the ramp (or on top of the tilted platform itself) so it’s on high ground — you’ll need it to reach the chest.

Now get in position: step onto the gray tilted platform and stand there while the orb makes its final approach to the hole.

The orb settles into the concave slot, activating it, and the tilted platform raises you to the upper level — ride it up. If you were standing elsewhere, it rises without you and you’ll have to redo the orb run.

3. Get the chest and complete the shrine

At the top, turn away from the monk’s pedestal: across a gap to the left, on the far wall, sits the treasure chest. Climb onto your metal block, jump, and paraglide across the gap, then open the chest for an Ancient Core.

Glide back across, then approach Rin Oyaa at the monk’s pedestal and speak with the monk to receive your Spirit Orb.

What do people miss here?

• Missing your ride: the tilted platform only rises at the moment the orb activates the slot, and only with you on it. Stand on the gray platform early — the orb’s lap around the room gives you plenty of time.
• Lifting the metal block too soon: if you pull the fan-blocking cube back before the orb has rolled past it, the wind path breaks and the orb can veer off course. Wait until it’s clearly beyond the block.
• Capping the wrong fans: the four good fans push the orb toward the slot; if you block one of those instead of the two dead-end fans by the hole, the orb stalls — just reposition the blocks and roll again.
• Writing off the chest as unreachable: it sits across a gap on the wall opposite the monk’s pedestal, and a ferried metal block plus the paraglider closes that gap. Don’t leave the Ancient Core behind.
• Order panic: you can claim the Spirit Orb first and then glide over for the chest, or vice versa — but the block ferry has to happen during the orb run, before you ride up.
