◈ Select a shrine to explore its location.

The shrine rises on the northeastern shore of Lake Saria, in the southwest corner of the Lost Woods — the southwest region of Great Hyrule Forest, southwest of Korok Forest. From Korok Forest, head southwest (as if you were trying to reach Lake Saria) and look for the narrow path marked by an archway — that path leads into the Lost Woods where the quest begins. Other Ancient Shrines scattered around Great Hyrule Forest include Daag Chokah, Ketoh Wawai, and Maag Halan. The only real hazard is the Lost Woods mist, which hides the correct route unless you know the Magnesis trick below.

What should you bring?

You must have the Magnesis rune — it is the ‘second sight’ that highlights the metal boulders in the Ogre Trees so you can follow the path through the mist; without it, the trail is nearly invisible. The Trial of Second Sight is a shrine quest that forms part of The Korok Trials side quest in the Woodland Region. Bring a serviceable weapon and decent armor, because the sign warns the aged shield is ‘guarded by monsters eternal’ — be ready for a fight when you collect the Rusty Shield. Beyond that, nothing special is required: no other runes, keys, or resistance gear.

How do you solve Kuhn Sidajj Shrine?

The whole trial is a metal-detecting treasure hunt: Magnesis reveals iron boulders wedged in ‘hungry’ Ogre Trees that mark the safe path, the path ends in a shield-for-chest trade between two brother trees, and the stolen chest must then be returned to a third tree on a small island in Lake Saria.

1. Find the Lost Woods entrance and talk to Zooki

From Korok Forest, walk to the southwest edge and find the narrow path marked by an archway — the same direction you would head toward Lake Saria.

Follow the path into the Lost Woods until you spot Zooki, a lone Korok standing on a big rock; talk to him to receive the shrine quest Trial of Second Sight. His instructions are simple — keep going and don’t get lost in the mist — plus a riddle: ‘The hungry trees will show you the way. Spy their iron to win the day.‘

2. Follow the Ogre Tree trail through the mist

Switch on Magnesis before moving: the rune highlights the metal boulders wedged in the Ogre Trees’ mouths, and those ‘hungry trees’ are your trail markers through the mist.

Follow the Ogre Trees with metal boulders in their mouths, moving from one glowing tree to the next deeper into the Lost Woods.

3. Get the Rusty Shield and feed the shield-eater tree

Watch for a sign that reads ‘Feed me the aged shield guarded by monsters eternal. My brother will repay you in kind.’ — the ‘aged shield’ is a Rusty Shield nearby, watched over by monsters.

Deal with the monsters guarding the Rusty Shield, then pick it up.

4. Claim the metallic chest from the brother tree

The tree’s brother repays you in kind: a metallic treasure chest appears in its mouth, containing a piece of Amber. This chest was stolen from the Ogre Tree on a small island in Lake Saria — and returning it is your real goal.

Pull the chest out with Magnesis and carry it onward toward Lake Saria; its metal glows whenever the rune is active, so you can find it again even in the fog.

5. Return the chest to the island tree and summon the shrine

On the small island in Lake Saria, find the victimized Ogre Tree with its own sign: ‘Please place my chest in my mouth. The shield eater’s brother stole it from me.’

Place the metallic chest in the mouth of the island’s Ogre Tree.

Kuhn Sidajj Shrine rises from the lake’s northeastern shore, completing the Trial of Second Sight.

6. Claim the Blessing

Enter the shrine — the monk’s greeting confirms that merely entering has already proven your worth — and walk the short, puzzle-free corridor; open the treasure chest along the direct path for a Giant Ancient Core.

Approach Monk Kuhn Sidajj on his pedestal to receive your Spirit Orb; he wishes you well — ‘May the Goddess smile upon you’ — and fades away.

What do people miss here?

  • Lake Saria’s northeastern shore is empty until the quest is finished — the shrine physically rises only after the stolen chest is returned, so don’t waste time searching before talking to Zooki.
  • Walking the Lost Woods with Magnesis turned off makes the trail nearly invisible in the mist. If you feel lost, stop and re-activate the rune to spot the next glowing boulder in a hungry tree’s mouth.
  • Skipping the Rusty Shield trade blocks everything: no shield in the shield-eater’s mouth means no chest appears in the brother tree, and the shrine never rises.
  • The metallic chest holds a piece of Amber, but it isn’t loot — it’s the island tree’s stolen property, and its whole job is to be delivered into the Ogre Tree’s mouth on the small island in Lake Saria. If you set it down and lose it in the fog, re-activate Magnesis; its metal glow gives it away.
  • Inside the shrine it’s tempting to sprint straight to the monk, but the Giant Ancient Core chest sits along that same direct corridor — open it before claiming the Spirit Orb.

FAQ

Where is Kuhn Sidajj Shrine?
On the northeastern shore of Lake Saria, in the southwest corner of the Lost Woods near Korok Forest. It only appears after you complete the Trial of Second Sight shrine quest, so don't expect to find it sitting there early.
How do I start the Trial of Second Sight?
Find the archway on the narrow southwest path out of Korok Forest, heading toward Lake Saria, and follow it into the Lost Woods. Talk to Zooki, the lone Korok standing on the big rock, and he'll give you the quest along with a riddle about hungry trees and iron.
What does 'spy their iron' mean in Zooki's riddle?
It means use Magnesis. The rune highlights the metal boulders stuck in the mouths of the Ogre Trees, and those marked trees are the safe path through the Lost Woods mist.
What do I do with the Rusty Shield and the metal chest?
Put the Rusty Shield in the mouth of the Ogre Tree by the 'feed me' sign, and a metallic chest containing a piece of Amber will appear in its brother tree's mouth. Grab that chest with Magnesis, carry it to the small island in Lake Saria, and place it in the mouth of the Ogre Tree there — that's what makes the shrine rise.
Is there a puzzle inside Kuhn Sidajj Shrine?
No — the trial name is Kuhn Sidajj's Blessing, a Blessing shrine with no puzzles at all. Just walk the short direct corridor to the monk, opening the Giant Ancient Core chest on the way, and collect your Spirit Orb.
