Look in the forest east of Kakariko Village, near the Great Fairy Fountain. From the village, take the uphill path toward the fountain and continue to the bridge and orb pedestal. The pedestal is your destination, but the shrine stays hidden until you recover the stolen orb through the village quest.

What should you bring?

Inside, this is a pure blessing trial with no puzzle or combat, so you need no runes and no resistances — Magnesis, Stasis, Cryonis, and Remote Bombs all go unused on the straight walk to the chest and the monk. Everything worth bringing is for before the door opens: a one-handed weapon and a shield for the Yiga Blademaster fight outside. Note that the Edge of Duality in the chest can only be claimed after that fight, so it cannot serve as your battle gear; stealth clothing or food remains optional.

Solution: How do you complete The Stolen Heirloom?

The main obstacle is unlocking the quest. Finish the prerequisites before waiting outside Impa’s house; watching Dorian alone does not replace them.

1. Complete Village Side Quests

Finish Find the Fairy Fountain. Help Pikango locate the fountain, make the requested offering, photograph the opened fountain, and show him the picture.

Finish Flown the Coop. Return Cado’s escaped Cuccos until the enclosure holds the total listed above, then report back to him.

Finish By Firefly’s Light. Visit Lasli at home at night, speak to her, then hold and release the required Sunset Fireflies from your materials inventory inside her room.

2. Start The Stolen Heirloom

Talk to Paya at Impa’s house. With the prerequisites complete, her report of the missing orb starts The Stolen Heirloom.

3. Tail Dorian at Night

Wait for Dorian to leave his post. Rest at the fire outside until night, then watch the guard rather than following unrelated villagers. His departure time is listed below.

Follow without being seen. Keep back as he walks uphill toward the Great Fairy; hide behind the rock beside the bridge while he crosses.

Wait for his call, then approach. Beyond the bridge, let him reach the pedestal area and call for the person he is meeting before you move closer. This triggers the confrontation.

4. Defeat the Yiga Blademaster

Defeat the Yiga Blademaster. Guard or dodge his sword attack, then counterattack during the opening. Bring a shield and a weapon you can handle comfortably; the fight happens outside the shrine.

5. Return the Orb to Reveal the Shrine

Place the recovered orb in the pedestal. After Dorian explains what happened, take the orb and set it into the ancient pedestal to reveal the entrance.

6. Receive the Blessing

Open the chest and approach the monk. Inside, collect the Edge of Duality, then receive the Spirit Orb. There is no further puzzle.

What do people miss here?

• Before ‘The Stolen Heirloom’ properly begins, Impa does not let you touch the Sheikah Heirloom, so there is no shortcut — you cannot carry the orb to the pedestal early, and it only becomes available once Paya reports the theft.
• After the theft is reported, the story has Link spend the day by Paya’s side before the nighttime events unfold. If nothing seems to happen after the conversation, pass time until nightfall rather than redoing the prerequisite quests.
• Paya explicitly warns you not to approach anyone suspicious at night — do not let that warning stop you from tailing Dorian; shadowing him at a distance is exactly what the quest expects.
• Nothing here is permanently missable: once the heirloom is placed, the shrine rises from beneath the ground and stays, so you can re-enter at any time, and the single chest (the Edge of Duality, an ancient Sheikah weapon) can still be collected on a return visit if you leave without it.
