Dah Kaso Shrine Location and Solution (Breath of the Wild)
Find Dah Kaso Shrine beneath Digdogg Suspension Bridge, defeat its spear-wielding Guardian Scout, and collect the Ancient Core chest before the altar.
Where is Dah Kaso Shrine?
From Outskirt Stable, head southwest toward Digdogg Suspension Bridge. Look below the crossing for the shrine entrance; your destination is beneath the bridge, not on its deck. There is no shrine quest to complete before entering.

What should you bring?
This is a Minor Test of Strength — the easiest tier of combat shrine — so no runes, special armor, or resistances are required, and it is winnable even at a low level. Gear-wise, bring a melee weapon with plenty of durability left (the Guardian Scout II has 375 HP, so pack a spare if yours is nearly broken), plus a bow with arrows and the paraglider; a shield is optional and mainly useful for parrying the charged laser. Tactically you do not need to overthink it: sidehop or backflip through the spear thrusts and punish the openings.

Solution: how do you beat the Guardian Scout?
Bring a melee weapon, a bow with arrows, and the paraglider for the route below. A shield gives you the option to parry, but the shrine does not require that technique. There is no Magnesis, Stasis, Cryonis, or Remote Bomb puzzle to unlock the exit.
| Battle detail | What to expect |
|---|---|
| Opponent | Guardian Scout II |
| Health | 375 HP |
| Equipped weapon | Guardian Spear |
| Arena aid | Stone pillars that can interrupt a spinning charge |
The combat instructions describe how to respond when each attack appears. They are not a fixed sequence of switches; repeat your openings until the Guardian falls.
1. Fight the Guardian Scout
Enter the central arena. Approach the middle of the chamber to bring up the spear-wielding Guardian Scout.
Dodge the spear and counterattack. Lock on and sidehop out of its thrust, then strike during the opening. A well-timed dodge can give you a Flurry Rush.
Put a pillar in the path of its spinning charge. When it backs away to spin toward you, move behind an intact stone pillar. Attack while the collision leaves it stunned.
Glide over the circular laser. If it starts sweeping a thin beam around the floor, jump and open the paraglider in the updraft. Draw your bow in the air and aim at its eye.
Keep moving during the final charged laser. When the weakened Guardian stops to charge its strong beam, run to avoid the shots, then resume attacking when you have an opening. A timed shield parry is an alternative.
2. Collect the reward
Pass through the gate and open the chest. Defeating the Guardian opens the barrier at the back of the arena. Collect the Ancient Core from the stone chest beyond it.
Approach the monk at the altar. Interact with the altar to receive the Spirit Orb and finish the shrine.
Chests: what is inside and how do you get it?
| Chest | Contents | How to get it |
|---|---|---|
| 1, beyond the battle gate | Ancient Core | Defeat the Guardian Scout, walk through the opened gate, and open the stone chest before the monk. |
What do people miss here?
- Do not skip the shrine because of the ‘Test of Strength’ label: a Minor Test is the easiest of the combat shrines, and you are pretty much guaranteed an easy fight even at a low level, so there is no need to come back later with stronger gear.
- The arena looks empty when you enter, and that is normal — the Guardian Scout II only rises from its pit once you approach the center of the chamber. Treat that walk as the fight’s start button and finish any weapon swapping beforehand.
- At 375 HP this bout runs longer than a typical field skirmish, and weapon durability drains the whole time; bringing only one nearly broken weapon can leave you unarmed mid-fight, so keep a spare melee weapon in reserve.
- Once the gate at the back rises, do not dash straight to the altar for the Spirit Orb and leave: the stone chest with the Ancient Core sits along that final stretch, it is the shrine’s only chest, and nothing else is hidden around the arena.
