Where is Shai Yota Shrine?

Shai Yota Shrine sits on an island in Horon Lagoon, out in the Lanayru Sea within the Lanayru region. Don’t expect to spot it on arrival: the Ancient Shrine is initially buried beneath the ground, and it only rises once the Master of the Wind shrine quest is completed. Kass can be found at Horon Lagoon to start things off.

What should you bring?

You need explosives — the cracked rocks have to be destroyed with them — and the Paraglider, the ‘wings of cloth and wood entwined’ from Kass’s song, to glide from the large island onto the pedestal. No armor, resistances, or combat gear required: the shrine itself contains no puzzles, just a direct path to the monk, and nothing in the trial fights back.

How do you solve Shai Yota Shrine?

Shai Yota’s Blessing contains no interior puzzle — the whole trial is the Master of the Wind shrine quest outside. Kass’s verse is the walkthrough: break the binding rocks, ride the released wind on wings of cloth and wood, and land on the altar to open the way.

1. 御風拓路者: Reveal the Shrine

Travel to Horon Lagoon in the Lanayru Sea (Lanayru region). When you arrive you’ll see islands and water but no shrine — the Ancient Shrine is initially buried beneath the ground until Master of the Wind is completed.

Find Kass at the lagoon. He asks if you want to hear an ‘Ancient Song’ passed down in the region — choose to listen. His verse — ‘He breaks the rocks that serve to bind, Above the tempestuous bay. On wings of cloth and wood entwined, He lands on the altar to open the way’ — is the complete solution, and hearing it begins the Master of the Wind shrine quest.

Scout the lagoon for cracked rocks — the ‘rocks that serve to bind.’ Each one is sealing a wind current.

Destroy every cracked rock using explosives. The moment a rock breaks, wind begins blowing through where the rock used to be.

Once all the cracked rocks are destroyed, a large gust of wind blows from the large island in Horon Lagoon toward a smaller island topped with a pedestal.

Head to the large island — it’s your takeoff point for the glide.

Leap off and open your Paraglider — the ‘wings of cloth and wood entwined,’ which the Adventure Log confirms refers to the paraglider — and let the gust carry you across the lagoon toward the pedestal island.

Land directly on the pedestal — that’s ‘the altar’ (the Adventure Log calls it the dais). The instant you touch down, Shai Yota Shrine rises from beneath the ground on another small island in the lagoon, completing Master of the Wind.

2. Shai Yota’s Blessing

Enter the shrine. Monk Shai Yota greets you — ‘To you who sets foot in this shrine… I am Shai Yota. By entering this place, you’ve already proven your worth’ — a sign that no trial follows.

Walk the direct path toward the Monk’s Pedestal. There are no puzzles inside — the entire trial really was the Master of the Wind quest outside.

Pop open the treasure chest sitting in front of you along the path to receive a Great Flameblade.

Approach Shai Yota to receive your Spirit Orb — ‘In the name of Goddess Hylia, I bestow upon you this Spirit Orb.’ He wishes you well (‘May the Goddess smile upon you’), then fades away, and Shai Yota’s Blessing is complete.

What do people miss here?

• The shrine is invisible when you arrive — it stays buried beneath the ground until Master of the Wind is finished. Players often circle Horon Lagoon convinced they’re in the wrong place; you’re not, you just need to do the quest.
• Skipping Kass means no quest and no hints. He’s at Horon Lagoon asking if you want to hear the ancient verse — choose to listen, since that’s what begins the Master of the Wind shrine quest.
• The large gust only forms when every cracked rock is destroyed — each one you break opens another wind current. If the wind won’t carry you to the pedestal, sweep the lagoon again for a rock you missed.
• ‘The altar’ is the pedestal on the small island, and you must reach it by gliding from the large island with the Paraglider — the Adventure Log confirms the ‘wings of cloth and wood entwined’ are the paraglider and that landing atop the dais is what opens the way.
• After you land on the pedestal, the shrine rises on another small island in the lagoon — not on the pedestal island itself — so look around for where it emerged instead of searching where you touched down. And don’t sprint straight past the chest to the monk; grab the Great Flameblade first.
