What should you bring?
Nothing is required inside the shrine itself — it is a blessing shrine with no puzzle, no combat, and no use for any Sheikah Slate rune. All the preparation is for The Spring of Wisdom quest outside: bring a bow with a good stock of arrows to shoot the Glowing Eyeballs on Naydra, plus one final arrow into its body to obtain the scale. Take your paraglider to follow Naydra along the air currents around Mount Lanayru, and wear warm clothes or bring cold-resistant food for the summit climb.
The challenge takes place outside. This is not a Test of Strength, and the room inside has no further puzzle.

What do people miss here?
You don’t actually have to free Naydra to get in: offering a Naydra’s Scale found at Hyrule Castle to the Spring of Wisdom also opens the door and completes the shrine quest, skipping the dragon chase entirely.
The Frostspear in the chest is not a plain one — it comes with a long throw upgrade.
After the offering, don’t wander off searching for a separate entrance: the shrine sits directly behind the Spring of Wisdom at the summit.
Speak to Medda in his field in Hateno Village. He tells you about treasure at the spring on Mount Lanayru, north of the village.
Why won't Jitan Sa'mi Shrine open after I free Naydra?
Freeing Naydra is not the final action. Follow the goddess's instruction to shoot its body for a scale, then drop that scale into the Spring of Wisdom.
What is in the Jitan Sa'mi Shrine chest?
The chest contains a Frostspear. Walk forward inside the shrine and open it before continuing to the monk.
Is Jitan Sa'mi Shrine a Test of Strength?
No, it is a blessing shrine. The challenge is opening the entrance outside; inside, you collect the chest and receive a Spirit Orb without a Guardian trial.
