Where is Chaas Qeta Shrine?

Look out to sea from the coast below the cliffs behind Hateno Ancient Tech Lab. The shrine stands on Tenoko Island in the Necluda Sea. Climb a nearby coastal cliff and paraglide toward the island; alternatively, use Cryonis to cross the water on ice pillars. No shrine quest is required. What should you bring?

Expect a pure weapon fight: wear your best armor and bring several strong weapons with durability to spare, plus healing or buffing food. Breaking a few weapons mid-fight is fine — this Guardian Scout drops some of the best gear in the game, so pack spares instead of saving your favorites. Ice arrows can freeze the Scout for an opening, and a bow plus the paraglider support the updraft tactic. Note that Daruk’s Protection cannot be used inside shrines, so plan on dodging, parrying, or killing it quickly instead.

Solution: how do you beat the Guardian Scout IV?

Prepare for a weapon fight. Bring strong weapons and spares, defensive armor, and healing food. Ice arrows can freeze the Scout and give you an opening. A bow and the paraglider support the tactics below; no particular puzzle rune is required inside.

The attack responses below are conditional: react to what the Scout does, and repeat them as needed.

1. Defeat the Guardian Scout IV

Enter the central arena to begin the fight. The Scout rises as you approach. Keep room to dodge instead of immediately committing to a long attack.

Evade melee attacks and punish the recovery. Use a well-timed backflip or side hop for a Flurry Rush. When it starts a spinning charge, back away from its path and attack after the spin ends; keep moving if it fires small laser shots.

Ride the updraft when the laser sweeps around the floor. Jump, open the paraglider, and rise above the expanding circular beam. Draw your bow in the air and aim at its eye for an opening to attack.

Treat the late charged laser as a separate threat. When the weakened Scout charges its powerful beam, run to avoid the shot or parry if you are comfortable with the timing. Resume attacking between attacks until it falls.

2. Open the Climbing Gear chest

Pass through the opened rear gate and open the chest. Collect the Climbing Gear before continuing to the altar. Weapons and materials dropped in the arena are separate from this chest.

3. Receive the Spirit Orb

Speak to the monk to finish. Receive the Spirit Orb after the fight and chest collection.

Chests: where is the Climbing Gear?

Climbing Gear is the torso armor in the climbing set and increases climbing speed. The chest is beyond the combat gate, so reaching the island alone does not unlock the reward.

What do people miss here?

• The fight starts the moment you approach the center of the arena, so eat your healing and buffing food before walking in.
• Don’t rush straight to the chest and monk after the kill: the Scout drops an Ancient Battle Axe++, Guardian Sword++, and Guardian Spear++ — some of the best gear in the game — so loot the arena before leaving.
• If the sea crossing looks impossible, remember the third route besides paragliding and Cryonis ice pillars: a Korok Leaf and a boat will also get you to the island.
