TotK Hero of the Wild Set: Cap, Tunic and Trousers of the Wild

The Hero of the Wild set is Link’s outfit from Breath of the Wild. Each piece sits on the jaw of one of the three Dark Skeletons, the giant skeletons in the Depths. It is the strongest of the seven hero sets and gives Attack Up once each piece has two stars. The other hero sets are on the hero sets overview; every set is in all armor.

Where do you find each piece of the Hero of the Wild set?

Each chest is near the lower jaw of a Dark Skeleton’s skull:

• Cap of the Wild — Hebra Dark Skeleton, at the northern edge of the Depths map.
• Tunic of the Wild — Gerudo Dark Skeleton, in the far southwest of the Depths.
• Trousers of the Wild — Eldin Dark Skeleton.

Which Old Maps point to the Hero of the Wild set?

The maps for the Cap and the Trousers are on Lightcast Island, the one for the Tunic on the North Tabantha Sky Archipelago. Opening a map marks its chest in the Depths. See all 31 Old Maps.

Can you get the Hero of the Wild set from an amiibo?

No. This is the one hero set no amiibo drops; the special reward of the Breath of the Wild Link amiibo is a paraglider fabric. Bargainer Statues in the Depths still resell any piece you have already had for 400 Poes, except the statue at Lookout Landing.

What does the Hero of the Wild set bonus do?

Attack Up raises Link’s attack power. All seven hero sets share it.

How much defense does each piece give?

4 at base and 28 at four stars, against 3 and 20 for the other six hero sets.

What does it take to upgrade the Hero of the Wild set?

Upgrades are done at a Great Fairy Fountain, one star at a time, for rupees plus materials. Each piece uses a different dragon, so there is one table per piece.
