Tears of the Kingdom Froggy Set: How to Get It, Set Bonus, Upgrades

The Froggy set answers the most common complaint about climbing in Hyrule: rain. Each piece reduces slipping, and the full set at two stars stops it. You earn it by working through Penn’s reports for the Lucky Clover Gazette. Every set is in all armor; other upgrade tables are on armor upgrade materials.

Where do you find each piece of the Froggy set?

All three are rewards from the same chain (Game8). Talk to Traysi at the Lucky Clover Gazette and take Potential Princess Sightings!, then do Penn’s side adventures at the stables:

• Froggy Leggings — after 9 of Penn’s side adventures.
• Froggy Sleeve — after 14.
• Froggy Hood — after all of them.

What does the Froggy set bonus do?

Zelda Dungeon: “Prevents Link from slipping when climbing slick surfaces”; Game8 puts it as no slipping when climbing in the rain. Each piece on its own has Slip Resistance, which only reduces slipping.

How much defense does each piece give?

3 at base and 20 at four stars.

What does it take to upgrade the Froggy set?

Upgrades are done at a Great Fairy Fountain, one star at a time, for rupees plus materials. The table is per piece; the whole set needs three times as much.

The later stars need Horriblin parts, which come from the Horriblins hanging from cave ceilings. Sticky Lizards and Sticky Frogs are also the ingredients of sticky (slip resistance) elixirs, the stopgap until you have the set.

When should you wear the Froggy set?

Wear it anywhere it rains a lot, above all Faron, and whenever a climb would otherwise mean waiting for the rain to stop. The Climbing set is faster on dry walls; the Froggy set wins as soon as it rains.
