TotK Zonai Devices: All 27 and Every Device Dispenser
All 27 Zonai devices in Tears of the Kingdom, what each does and whether it drains your Energy Cell, plus all 30 Device Dispensers and the devices each gives.
Zonai devices are the parts you stick together with Ultrahand: fans, wheels, wings, emitters and the rest. This page lists all 27, what each does and whether it runs on your Energy Cell, then maps the 30 Device Dispensers with the devices each one gives out. For growing the Energy Cell itself, see battery upgrades.
How many Zonai devices are there?
| Count | |
|---|---|
| Zonai devices | 27 |
| Devices you can get from a dispenser | 26 (not the Big Battery) |
| Device Dispensers | 30 |
| Dispensers on sky islands / surface / Depths | 25 / 3 / 2 |
| Devices per dispenser | 3 to 6 |
| Most items you can put in at once | 5 |
What does each Zonai device do?
“Power” says whether a device uses energy while it runs. It takes that energy from a Battery or Big Battery attached to the same build first, then from your Energy Cell. Values marked ¹ are less certain than the rest and may be wrong.
| Device | What it does | Power |
|---|---|---|
| Fan | Blows wind from a propeller; pushes vehicles along or lifts them | Uses energy |
| Wing | Glides on the wind; balance on its middle to fly farther | None |
| Rocket | A short, very strong burst of thrust, then it burns out | Disputed (see below) |
| Balloon | Rises when heated from below; the hotter the air, the faster | None ¹ |
| Small Wheel | Powered wheel, fast on flat ground, poor on slopes and bumps | Uses energy |
| Big Wheel | Powered wheel for rough ground; can cross shallow water | Uses energy |
| Cart | Low-friction platform on wheels; needs another device or a push to move | None |
| Sled | Slick underside for sliding over grass and sand | None |
| Hover Stone | Floats in place, ignoring gravity | Uses energy |
| Steering Stick | Stand on it to steer; it switches on every device connected to it | None ¹ |
| Stabilizer | Pulls itself upright when switched on, keeping a build level | Uses energy |
| Spring | Compresses, then snaps out hard enough to launch things | None ¹ |
| Homing Cart | Drives itself toward monsters | Uses energy ¹ |
| Flame Emitter | Shoots fire; under a Balloon it heats the air | Uses energy |
| Frost Emitter | Blows freezing air that slows or freezes monsters | Uses energy |
| Shock Emitter | Fires an electric bolt from its horn when struck | Uses energy ¹ |
| Beam Emitter | Fires a long-range light beam | Uses energy ¹ |
| Cannon | Fires exploding shots at intervals | Uses energy ¹ |
| Construct Head | Keeps turning to face an enemy; attach a weapon device to it for homing attacks | Uses energy ¹ |
| Time Bomb | Explodes after a delay; the blast can set off other devices | Single use |
| Light | A short-range lamp for dark roads and caves | Uses energy |
| Mirror | Gathers and reflects light over a long distance | None ¹ |
| Hydrant | Gushes water when struck | Uses energy ¹ |
| Portable Pot | A cooking pot you can place anywhere; one recipe, then it is gone | Single use |
| Stake | Drives into the ground or a wall and holds a build in place | None |
| Battery | Stores Zonai energy and powers the devices it is attached to | Supplies energy |
| Big Battery | A disposable battery holding several times as much as a Battery | Supplies energy |
Devices used for a long time eventually flash green and disappear, so a vehicle you leave running will not last forever. For recipes to cook in a Portable Pot, see all recipes; for saved vehicle designs, see Autobuild schematics.
Where do you get Zonai devices?
- Device Dispensers. Put Zonai Charges, Large Zonai Charges or Soldier Construct Horns in the receptacle at the foot of the machine and it spits out Zonai capsules, each holding one device picked at random from that dispenser’s list.
- Treasure chests. Some chests hold a Zonai capsule instead of a weapon or material.
- Crystal Refineries, after a full Energy Cell. When your Energy Cell has all 48 Energy Wells, the Steward Constructs at the two refineries trade any device you choose for 3 Crystallized Charges each, or 30 for a Big Battery. Apart from chests, this is the only way to get a Big Battery.
How many capsules does a dispenser give?
Putting several charges in at once pays a bonus.
| Put in at once | Zonai Charge | Large Zonai Charge |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | 1 capsule | 10 capsules |
| 2 | 3 | 22 |
| 3 | 5 | 34 |
| 4 | 8 | 47 |
| 5 | 12 | 60 |
Five Large Zonai Charges at once give 60 capsules, where five single Zonai Charges one at a time give only 5. Forge Constructs in the Depths trade one Large Zonai Charge for one Large Zonaite, so ore mined in the Depths turns into a lot of capsules.

The Big Battery is not in any dispenser.
How do you recharge Zonai devices?
- Wait. Your Energy Cell refills by itself whenever no device is drawing on it.
- Eat a charge. Using a Zonai Charge from the menu tops the Energy Cell up a little. A Large Zonai Charge, used the same way, stops the Energy Cell from draining for a short time.
- Attach a Battery. A Battery or Big Battery built into a vehicle powers it before your own Energy Cell is touched. They are disposable and break once empty.
- Grow the Energy Cell. Each Energy Well you add lets devices run longer. The battery upgrades page covers where to get Crystallized Charges and what each upgrade costs.
