Tears of the Kingdom Molduga Locations: All 4, HP, Drops and Medal

In the game’s words, a Molduga is a “massive monster [that] swims beneath the desert’s sand”, and “if it senses sound, it will breach the surface to feast on whatever it can grab”. There are only four, all in the Gerudo Desert. This page gives their coordinates, the HP and drops, the fight in screenshots, and the Molduga Monster Medal.

Where are the Moldugas?

Coordinates are X, Y as the in-game map shows them; the landmark is the nearest named place on the map.

The count is from the game’s placement data as published by zeldamods’ radar for objmap-totk. It matches Game8’s number for the Molduga Monster Medal (4). HP is 1,500 on both Game8 and Zelda Dungeon.

How do you beat a Molduga?

The game warns that “running around carelessly can be dangerous”. Game8’s method: throw an item or shoot an arrow into the sand to lure it; when it notices, it jumps out to eat it.

When it starts to recover, step back: it may swipe with its tail. Then return to high ground and repeat. Game8 also notes that a Molduga ignores items and arrows while it is above the sand; hit it with an arrow and it goes back under.

What does a Molduga drop?

Counts are from the game’s drop table as read by zeldamods’ radar; the chests draw their contents from a table of their own. Zelda Dungeon: Moldugas “are the only enemies in the game that drop treasure chests upon being defeated”.

How do you get the Molduga Monster Medal?

Beat all four and talk to Gralens of the monster-control crew in the Emergency Shelter at Lookout Landing — the same routine as the Hinox Monster Medal.

1. After one of the crew’s side adventures, Gralens offers the big-monster quests (Game8). One is WANTED: Molduga: by the game’s quest log, the research division “spotted the huge monster swimming in the sand” in the East Barrens of the Gerudo Desert — the East Barrens row in the table above.
2. Beat all four. Once the quests are done, Gralens tells you how many of each kind are left (Game8).
3. Go back to him for the medal.
