Tears of the Kingdom Frox Locations: All 40, HP, Drops and Medal

A Frox is “a large monster that dwells in the Depths”, as the game puts it, with “incredibly powerful legs” to leap at prey and “a large mouth [that] allows it to swallow whatever it hungers for in one gulp”. Its weak point is the ore it carries on its back. This page lists all 40 with coordinates, gives the HP and drops of each kind, and shows the fight in screenshots.

How many Frox are there?

All 40 are in the Depths. Counts are from the game’s placement data as published by zeldamods’ radar for objmap-totk; the total matches Game8’s number for the Frox Monster Medal (40). The two sources disagree on the Obsidian Frox’s HP, so both are shown.

Where are the Frox?

Coordinates are X, Y as the in-game map shows them. The Depths mirror the surface, so each row names the landmark on the surface directly above. The Depths are dark: Game8 suggests throwing a Giant Brightbloom Seed nearby to light the area before you fight.

How do you beat a Frox?

After you break some ore it throws you into the air and opens its mouth to catch you; Game8’s answer is to glide briefly and shoot a bomb arrow into the mouth to stun it again. The game says a Blue-White Frox “can shake off enemies who climb atop it and then snatch them midair”.

An Obsidian Frox carries black rocks instead: Game8 says to shoot its eye to stun it and then break all the black rocks on its back.

How do you get the Frox Monster Medal?

Beat all 40 and talk to Gralens of the monster-control crew in the Emergency Shelter at Lookout Landing — the same routine as the Hinox Monster Medal.

1. After one of the crew’s side adventures, Gralens offers the big-monster quests (Game8). The Frox one is Unknown Huge Silhouette: by the game’s quest log, the crew found a massive silhouette in the Depths — “something was wriggling in the dark and then opened its gaping maw as if to swallow them whole”.
2. Beat all 40. Once the quests are done, Gralens tells you how many of each kind are left (Game8).
3. Go back to him for the medal: “An award presented by the monster-control crew in appreciation for defeating every Frox in Hyrule.”
