Horses still matter in Tears of the Kingdom: they are quick on Hyrule Field, and with a Towing Harness they pull wagons. This page maps every stable, explains catching and registering, lists the special horses and where they are, and gives every Pony Points reward and piece of horse gear.

Where are all the stables?

Drag to move and zoom in to tell the points apart; on a computer, click the map first and the mouse wheel zooms it. Ticks are saved in this browser only; no account is needed.

Click a coordinate to show that spot on the map above. In the game, move the map cursor until the X, Y readout matches, then drop a pin.

16 Mini Stable Emergency Shelter Hyrule Field

Positions are the game’s own stable markers. Serenne Stable from Breath of the Wild is gone; New Serenne Stable stands farther south, and there is no Rito Stable on the map.

A full stable registers and boards horses, has a bed (20 rupees, or 50 for the Malanya bed once unlocked), a cooking pot and a Pony Points ledger. A Mini Stable only registers, boards and hands out horses.

How do you catch and register a horse?

  1. Sneak up on it. Crouch and come slowly, not from the direction the herd faces; gliding down onto one from high ground also works.
  2. Soothe it. A Wild horse bucks: keep pressing the soothe button while your stamina lasts. Spotted horses are Gentle and easier.
  3. Register it at a stable. Talk to the attendant while riding; the horse gets a name, a Stable Saddle and a Stable Bridle. The fee is 20 rupees; the first horse is free and gets you the Pony Points Card.
  4. Collect Pony Points. Each new horse registered, each first visit to a stable and each paid night earns a point; rewards are below.

What do the four horse stats mean?

StatWhat it does
StrengthThe horse’s HP
SpeedHow fast it runs
StaminaHow often it can gallop before tiring
PullHow heavy a load it can tow in a Towing Harness

Each stat is rated one to five stars, and the stable also shows the horse’s temperament (Gentle or Wild) and bond (stat names from the game’s stable screen). Solid-coloured horses have the better stats; spotted ones top out at three stars. Some of the best wild horses, up to 4 Strength, 4 Speed, 5 Stamina and 3 Pull, roam Zokassa Ridge and the land east of Dueling Peaks. Malanya raises any stat to five stars for meals: see Horse God recipes.

Positions are the game’s placements.

  • Giant White Stallion: it stands where Malanya’s spring used to be. It has no stamina and cannot gallop. Malanya will not upgrade it or the Giant Horse.
  • Golden Horse: the horse Zelda left at Snowfield Stable; bring it back there for the side adventure. The reward is the Royal Saddle and Royal Bridle.
  • Stalhorse: easy to ride but cannot be registered, and on the surface it falls apart at dawn.
  • Epona: 4 Strength, 4 Speed, 4 Stamina and no Pull, so she cannot wear a Towing Harness; her name and gear cannot be changed.

Where is the Horse God?

Malanya has moved from Faron to Bloodleaf Lake in Akkala, north of East Akkala Stable. Give him an Endura Carrot to bring him out of his bud. After that he revives a horse for a Roasted Endura Carrot and upgrades Strength, Speed, Stamina or Pull for meals; the full meal list is on Horse God recipes.
