Where is Suma Sahma Shrine?

Suma Sahma Shrine is buried in the snow at the summit of Mount Granajh, a snowy Gerudo peak in the Wasteland region’s Gerudo Highlands — the same highland area that holds shrines like Dila Maag and Ishto Soh. When you arrive you’ll find only ruins — no shrine — because it stays underground until “Secret of the Snowy Peaks” is complete; the trial itself is named “Suma Sahma’s Blessing.” The entire summit is snow-covered, so expect a cold climb and a colder wait.

What should you bring?

Nothing is required inside: the shrine is one large room with no puzzles, no enemies, and no runes needed. Outside, you need either a snowball or the Cryonis rune — the shadow of a snowball and the shadow of a Cryonis block both work. Since the whole peak is buried in snow, the wait for 4:00 PM is a cold one, so come prepared for the climate.

How do you solve Suma Sahma Shrine?

The whole trial turns on one line from the Mountain Peak Log: “When the snow mountain pedestal glows, cast a cold shadow onto its core” — the glow only happens at 4:00 PM, and the cold shadow comes from a snowball or a Cryonis block.

1. Find the Ruins and Wait for the Pedestal to Glow

Make your way to the ruins at the top of Mount Granajh. You won’t see a shrine anywhere — it’s buried beneath the snow until the quest is done.

Search the ruins for a book lying among them: the Mountain Peak Log. Read it — this is what triggers the Shrine Quest “Secret of the Snowy Peaks”.

The log recounts one unknown individual’s attempts to unearth the shrine, and it quotes the old text they were following: “The shrine slumbers near the pedestal on a snowy Gerudo peak” — so you’re in the right place.

Read on for the line that matters: “When the snow mountain pedestal glows, cast a cold shadow onto its core.”

Find the pedestal near the ruins — the log describes it as nearby. Before its glow, it’s completely inert; nothing you do to it has any effect.

Wait until 4:00 PM in-game. The pedestal glows at this time and no other, so check the clock and let time pass.

At 4:00 PM, the pedestal begins to glow. Head to it — you now have what you need to cast a “cold shadow.”

2. Cast a Cold Shadow to Reveal the Shrine

Pick up a snowball from the snow around the summit, or raise a Cryonis ice block nearby if you have the rune.

Position the snowball or ice block so its shadow falls across the glowing core of the pedestal.

When the cold shadow covers the core, the Suma Sahma Shrine rises from the ground — the Shrine Quest is complete.

3. Enter the Shrine and Claim Your Rewards

Enter the shrine. Monk Suma Sahma greets you — “By entering this place, you’ve already proven your worth” — so there is no trial inside.

Follow the straight path through the single room — no puzzles, no enemies. Open the treasure chest in the center of the room for a Moonlight Scimitar with a durability upgrade.

Speak to Suma Sahma at the monk’s pedestal to receive your Spirit Orb, bestowed “in the name of Goddess Hylia.” He wishes you well and fades away.

• If the summit looks empty, that’s correct — the shrine is buried under the snow until the quest is done. Nothing starts until you read the Mountain Peak Log in the ruins, so do that first.
• The pedestal only glows at 4:00 PM. Standing there at any other hour does nothing — check the clock and wait for mid-afternoon instead of assuming it’s broken.
• “Cold shadow” means the shadow of something cold: a snowball from the summit or a Cryonis ice block. Position it so its shadow actually covers the glowing core — the shrine only rises when that lands.
• The Moonlight Scimitar chest sits in the middle of the room, right on the path, and it’s easy to beeline to the monk and leave it unopened. Open it before you collect your Spirit Orb.
