BotW Phantom Set: EX Treasure Phantasma Chest Locations

The Phantom set is the attack set from the Expansion Pass’s first pack, The Master Trials: every piece has Attack Up and 8 defense, the highest base defense of any non-upgradable set. You get it from the side quest EX Treasure: Phantasma. Other DLC content is in the DLC guide; every set is in all armor.

Where is the Phantom set?

The quest points you to Misko’s EX Journal in the Outpost Ruins, east of the Great Plateau. The journal names three ruins in Hyrule Field:

Armor worn by fierce phantoms, feared even by heroes, is hidden in the ruins of Hyrule Field. Find these pieces at a battleground where brave souls tested their skill… at ceremonial grounds where royal guards are honored… and at the ruins where the soldiers of Hyrule gathered.

Every chest is buried; pull it out with Magnesis.

• Phantom Helmet — Coliseum Ruins, in the northwest of the ground floor. A Lynel lives inside.
• Phantom Armor — Sacred Ground Ruins, buried in the southeast.
• Phantom Greaves — Hyrule Garrison Ruins, under a wrecked Guardian on the east side. The table below shows Hyrule Field because that is the nearest place name on the map.

Does the Phantom set have a set bonus?

No. Each piece has Attack Up on its own, but the game data gives the set no bonus. Wearing all three does have a hidden effect: people you meet cower in fear, the same reaction as the Dark set. It changes nothing in combat.

How much defense does it give?

8 per piece, 24 for the set. It cannot be upgraded or dyed, so this never changes. If you sell it, Granté in Tarrey Town sells it again once you have found it.

Is the Phantom set worth wearing?

For fighting, yes, early on: Attack Up on all three pieces with 24 defense is strong while the upgradable sets are still at low stars. Later, the Barbarian set also has Attack Up and can be upgraded well past it.
