Breath of the Wild Climbing Set: Shrine Locations, Set Bonus, Upgrades

The Climbing set is the most useful set in a game where you can climb almost anything. All three pieces are in shrines in Necluda, not far from the Great Plateau. For every set see all armor; for the Great Fairies see armor upgrade materials.

Where do you find each piece of the Climbing set?

All three are shrine chests (Game8; shrine from the game’s placement data):

• Climber’s Bandanna — Ree Dahee Shrine, Dueling Peaks region.
• Climbing Gear — Chaas Qeta Shrine, Hateno region.
• Climbing Boots — Tahno O’ah Shrine, Hateno region.

What does the Climbing set bonus do?

Zelda Dungeon: “Jumping while climbing consumes 50% less stamina.” Each piece on its own has Climb Speed Up.

How much defense does each piece give?

3 at base and 20 at four stars.

What does it take to upgrade the Climbing set?

Upgrades are done at a Great Fairy Fountain, one star at a time, for materials only (no rupees). The table is per piece.

The materials are all small creatures and plants: Keese wings, Rushrooms, Hightail Lizards, Hot-Footed Frogs and Swift Violets, which grow on cliffs. Several of them are also ingredients; the recipe finder shows what else they cook into.

When should you wear the Climbing set?

Wear it for any long climb in dry weather: towers, mountains, the walls of Hyrule Castle. It does nothing against slipping in the rain; Breath of the Wild has no armor for that.
