What does a Sheikah Tower do?
| Effect | Details |
|---|---|
| Map | The terminal at the top downloads the map of the surrounding region |
| Travel gate | The tower becomes a fast-travel point you can warp back to |
The Great Plateau Tower is raised during the opening story, and when it rises the other fourteen come up across Hyrule. After that none of them is required.
What is the best order for the Sheikah Towers?
The towers can be climbed in any order, but following the main quests takes you past them one after another:
- Great Plateau Tower. Part of the opening; the story does not continue until it is active.
- Dueling Peaks Tower. On the road to Kakariko Village during Seek Out Impa, and one of the easiest to climb.
- Hateno Tower. On the way to Hateno Village for Locked Mementos.
- Lanayru Tower. On the route to Zora’s Domain.
- Tabantha and Hebra Towers. Near Rito Village, when you go after Divine Beast Vah Medoh.
- Eldin Tower. On the way to Death Mountain for Divine Beast Vah Rudania.
- Wasteland and Gerudo Towers. On the way to Gerudo Town.
- Woodland Tower. Near the Lost Woods when you go for the Master Sword.
- Central and Ridgeland Towers. Close to Hyrule Castle and the most dangerous pair; leave them for last.
Lake, Akkala and Faron Towers are not on any main-quest route. Pick them up when you pass by.
How do you climb each Sheikah Tower?
| Tower | What makes it hard | How to get past it |
|---|---|---|
| Great Plateau | Nothing major; Bokoblins nearby | Follow the story |
| Dueling Peaks | Stands in the Squabble River | Swim, hop across the rocks or use Cryonis; the tower itself has plenty of ledges |
| Hateno | Thorny vines around the base | Burn them with fire, or climb carefully between them |
| Lanayru | A hill of monster camps with Bokoblins, Lizalfos and Moblins | Fight or sneak up the hill; the tower is easy once you reach it |
| Central | Guardian Stalkers around it and Decayed Guardians at its base | Jump from ledge to ledge; standing on a ledge blocks the lasers from below |
| Ridgeland | A lake with Electric Lizalfos and Electric Wizzrobes | Shoot them from a distance first, then swim over |
| Tabantha | Malice at the base, Black Bokoblins nearby | Climb the stone pillar beside it and shoot the Malice eyeball on the pillar to the north; that pillar falls against the tower as a bridge |
| Hebra | Ice blocks around the base, freezing cold | Melt the ice with a fire weapon or a campfire, and bring cold protection |
| Gerudo | The tallest tower, in a deep chasm; no way up from the bottom | Glide in from nearby high ground such as Birida Lookout |
| Wasteland | A bog you cannot swim in; falling in costs a heart | Make ice blocks with Cryonis and walk across |
| Woodland | A bog and a large monster base around it | Use Cryonis to cross, or climb a smaller nearby tower and glide over |
| Eldin | No enemies, but very tall with only a couple of rest ledges | Glide over from a nearby rock ledge to skip the lower part |
| Akkala | Malice around the base and partway up; Guardian Skywatchers patrol | Shoot the Malice eyeball so a metal slab drops, then use Magnesis to make a bridge |
| Faron | No ledges near the ground, so it drains stamina; an Electric Wizzrobe nearby | Look for the updraft under the stone slabs at the base: attach an Octo Balloon or use Stasis to lift a slab, then ride the updraft |
| Lake | Sunken paths full of Bokoblins and Lizalfos | Approach through the grass and sneak; the tower has plenty of ledges |
Where does this data come from?
- Positions and names: the tower map markers published for objmap by zeldamods, checked against the tower objects in the game’s placement data; names from the game text.
- Obstacles and methods: cross-checked across several walkthroughs and wikis. Where they disagree on a detail (how many Guardians, which launch point), only the parts they share are written here.
- Recommended order: based on where the main quests take you.
